Default Yummy Birthday Ideas?

Hi Chicks,

I survived May (5 birthday parties, one anniversary party, and Mother's Day) without getting too tempted by cake and such, but now it's June...We had a nice dinner for our own anniversary (12th for DH and I!) on Sunday, and I was pretty good (grilled tuna over gnocchi in a garlicky sauce, but I only had a couple of the gnocchi, salad, a half of a small piece of bread, wine).

But it's MY birthday next week, and though I don't want to be a total martyr, I also don't want to completely blow it! Any yummy ideas for a birthday-ish treat? I am not a huge cake fan, but I usually have some kind of really rich chocolate cake with buttery-frosting. I could easily skip cake if I had some other inspiring ideas that were more OP.

Thanks!

I had friends for dinner the other week and did boneless chicken breast stuffed with low fat cheese (tastes way better with brie or camerbert but never mind), salad containing mesclan salad leaves and acid free tomatoes, oven roasted capsicum (heat a little olive oil in the pan, cut about 4 capsicum into bite sized pieces and stir, put a lid on and simmer on low for about 20-30 mins), rice dish for the visitors, followed by Betty Crocker Low-fat Brownie with vanilla yogurt (instead of cream). It was really yummy and looked really attractive on the table. There are some SB friendly Brownie recipes on this site using nuts and artificial sweetener.

Congrats on how well you've done so far! Good for you.

Check out the recipe section on the board for a few things...

Personally, I found a recipe that feels like a rich chocolate cheesecake! Essentially, you make a ricotta creme... except use half ricotta and half 1% cottage cheese, blend in the blender with a splash of vanilla, Splenda, cocoa powder. Put in oven, bake at 350 until the top cracks -- I think it was about 25 mins but you have to play it by ear, I think.

Anyway, it was as much like a "real" dessert as I've found. To die for!

Good luck!
