Default Carb Countdown Chocolate Milk and 2% Cottage Cheese

Hi everyone! I'm starting for my 2nd time tomorrow. I tried WW but I used all my points for carb sugary foods.. not healthy... and boy the cravings made it hard to stick within my points range.

I saw "carb countdown" choc milk... is this legal in P1?

Also, is 2% cottage cheese ok to eat like 2 cups a day? If not, what's the limit?

I'm trying to get in protein without having to eat meat, and I lOvE cottage cheese.

Thanks!

Welcome to The Beach. Have you read the book?

2% cottage cheese is to be limited according to the gfgc guide. How about trying soy products to get more protein.

Please list the ingredients and nutritional values for the chocolate milk. Low carb does not always mean OK. It could set off cravings. Remember this is NOT a low carb diet.

Ruth -- 1% Cottage Cheese is ok, is it not? It says "good" in the Good Carbs, Good Fats book... then again, I seem to keep missing little intricacies of this diet all over the place, so I may be wrong!

I think the chocolate milk is ok too. I bought it yesterday. It's a bit grainy and has to be limited with other dairy. But it should be ok

1% cottage cheese is fine. Remember too that beans and other legumes have protein and are good carbs which should be included in your diet.

On Phase I and now on Phase II I drink 8 oz. of 1% milk with 1 Tbsp. of sugar free chocolate syrup per day. I use it as one of my snacks most days, but some days I have it with breakfast instead.

Brief nutrion info:
Milk - 110 calories/12g carb/2.5g fat (1.5 of which is saturated)
Syrup - 10 cal/3g carb/0g fat
Protien - 8g

Is a 8 oz. of milk really a "serving" of protien though? It looked pretty low on the protien scale when I searched on it. It seems like only a small serving of protien maybe...

Fish, 3 oz, 21 grams
Chicken, 3 oz, 21 grams
Turkey, 3 oz, 21 grams
Meat, 3 oz, 21 grams
Milk, 8 oz, 8 grams
Tofu, 3 oz, 15 grams
Yogurt, 8 oz, 8 grams
Cheese, 3 oz, 21 grams
Peanut butter, 2 tbsp, 8 grams
Eggs, 2 large, 13 grams

I realize you don't want to eat meat. Do you eat fish? :-)

Thumbs up

Kaetra-
Yes, I do eat fish, but probably not often enough. Salmon is my favorite.

Thank you everyone for replying to my post.

The support here is great. I wish everyone the best of luck!

Actually, Ruth, I made the "Bean Cake" the other night and it's been a real lifesaver for me.

See, in the morning, I'm used to having some sort of flour-based food. For the last few months, I'd get my morning Starbucks and a slice of Reduced Fat ORange loaf. I LOVE baking for breakfast. THat, or even just plain oatmeal. But something that has that texture, you know?

So, having to switch to eggs was **** for me. I don't love eggs at the best of times, never mind in the morning when I have a weakish stomach.

But the bean cake... there's no flour, but it has the texture of a baked item with flour. OH my God, I couldnt' be happier about that!! It's perfect, even if it does taste a little odd.

Regarding cottage cheese - I've found that the 1% has the best balance of carbs and fats. The 2% is too high in sat. fat and the fat free is higher in carbs.

Wendy... the first bite I had, I turned to my boyfriend and said, "This cake tastes like MUSHROOMS." I nearly trashed it right there, but I let it cool and now it's good. I think you have to get used to it. I've also tried a smear of PB on it, and that masks the weird taste... as does a dollop of Cool Whip lite/free/whatever.

Then again, it's not necessarily for everyone. Sorry that it didn't work for you!

Way off topic so I'll close the thread.
