Default New to South Beach

Hi, everyone. My name is Barbara and I've been lurking since last week and finally decided to join. I'm 41, married with a 6 year son (and 3 cats) and work full time in the computer industry. My doctor has been threatening to put me on medicine for my cholesterol and since I am already on 3 medicines for my blood pressure I decided I better get serious about losing some of this weight! She gave me three months before I have to come back for a physical and I only have 1 month left!

I got the books and started this past weekend. The hardest thing for me is breakfasts. I used to eat a banana every morning for breakfast!

I can really use this type of support! I have seen so many wonderful ideas! My DH and son are going to be camping this weekend and I am really looking forward to fixing healthy meals without having to cook stuff they will eat. My son hasn't learned how to enjoy seafood other than Popcorn Shrimp and fishsticks and my husband doesn't like to eat chicken. They both live on pasta!

Welcome to The Beach, Barb. Let them have their pasta and you just eat the healthy stuff! Enjoy the weekend with the "men" hair and menu planning!

Default Welcome and good luck!

I too needed to make some changes or go on meds. My triglycerides were 315 and cholesterol was 298. That was a year ago and I was ignoring the potential hazards to my health. (denial is NOT a river in Egypt)

Anyway, after two months on the beach my triglycerides were 176 and cholesterol was 186. That was two months ago I had those labs drawn. I'm thinking that I want to go get another test next month sometime. Just for grins and giggles! Down 45 pounds since the end of January. I feel like a new person!

You'll love this diet. Just survive the first week!
