Lightbulb New to SBD

Hello everyone! My name is Stephanie and I am new to this website and about to be new to SBD. I have a question that I can't quite get an answer to. I've read the book and am all set to begin this diet (after my husband deploys) but I am having a hard time dealing with the no fruit juice in the morning idea....quite frankly that will be my biggest challenge. I need substitutions but abhor the thought of V-8 or some similiar veggie juice. Any suggestions?

Hi Stephanie and welcome to the Beach! Golly, I've never met anyone who was absolutely devoted to the idea of fruit juice in the morning. You do realize that the no fruit at all thing is only for Phase I? So, it's not like you'll have to give up fruit forever. But if it's that important, have you thought about a fruit flavored herbal tea or something like that?

Now that the weather's warmed up, I've switched from coffee to tea. Gotta have my cuppa every morning.

Sorry I can't be of more help...anyone else?

Good morning and welcome to the beach. I think that you can have veggie juice. But Ruthie and ellis would be the ones to ask. They are vaults of information.

How bout Crystal light, sunrise I think its called it tastes like orange punch, or tang. I've found that to cover any of my fruit juice cravings. Good Luck

Welcome, Stephanie!
The girls had good suggestions for substitutions... and it IS only for two weeks. It's all about making sacrifices, hon.
You know, I always HATED V-8 and tomato juices, but I actually got used to having it. It wouldn't be my first choice, but I no longer shudder when I drink it.

I drink V8 or Tomato Juice with a shot of Worchestershire sauce or some Frank's Hot Sauce to zip it up! Actually in Phase II, whole fruit rather than juice are recommended. Fruit juices are limited or very limited.

Sometimes, if I am really craving juice and there's no crystal light around, I drink Orange flavored Metemucil [I know I thought, GROSS! too but it's not that bad --better than veggie juice!] or have an ice pop in a fruit flavor.

Thumbs up

Definitely Crystal Light! Stephanie, I'm military, too, and I'll be thinking of you and adding you to my prayers as your husband deploys. These forums are a great support through deployment times -- even late at night. Please pass on to your DH my thanks for the work he's doing.
