Default The Weekend - March 25th and 26th

Good Morning from MaybySpringSoon? Delta. Yesterday we had snow and tonight it'll be freezing rain. My yard guy sent me the contract for this next season but I'm hesitating to sign it until I know we will have grass to cut!

Fun Book Club last night at Karen's place with lots of excitement and hugs over the wedding news. So nice to know everyone is supportive of us. The minister is booked, details like "when" are being worked out and we are just going to enjoy the ride. Going to Florida a week from today will give us breathing time to clarify our thinking.

Today we are off to my sister's place for breakfast. She has never met B and is still in shock so it'll be interesting. No doubt there will be loads of unsolicited advice. I'll try to keep smiling.

Hope everyone has a great weekend. Be nice to yourself and enjoy the day, even if it is the dregs of winter.

Good morning from the snowy north. We also got snow overnight, after a delightful day of 35* and a rain/snow mix. Blech. I am so ready for spring and the coming week looks like a warm up might be coming.

Not sure what is on the agenda today. DH and I might go look at cars....mine is at the point where I can trade while it has value or decide to drive it for another 5 years.

Ruth, have a nice visit and hopefully your sister will be understanding.

To all the other chicks, have a wonderful Saturday!

Good morning,

It is rainy here today and will be all day. Today I have to clean house and study and need to pick up DD1 from a birthday party sleepover at a friends house.

Ruth glad your friends are being supportive, enjoy time with your sister today

Beth I need to start looking for a new car next month as well, though I never buy new, I just a get a low mileage one year old car so it takes some research to find.

Have a great day everyone!

Good morning everyone!

Congratulations, Ruth! I'm so excited for you and Bruce! Enjoy your visit with your sister

Beth, sorry about the snow. Have a great day whatever you choose to do! I've been thinking about the car thing, too. I think I could sell my car right now, use the cash for a down payment and end up with almost the same alone I have right now. Otherwise, driving for five more years. LOL

Ruth, have a good day. Hope your house gets clean and studying done, too. I have done really well looking for those low mileage vehicles in the past. The last two I bought that way I looked for months before the right one. And I wasn't disappointed.

I have written down a list for the day. Unfortunately, some of it is outside which is where I want to be and it's just too cold right now. I have to pick my mom up and take her to her breakfast then I will come home and get some things done. Mom and I are meeting my sister in Boulder at 4 PM for an event. I'm going to figure out how to accomplish several chores when we go and still not feed the dogs for too long. Back to work tomorrow. Have a great day everyone!

A quick check in from work. Ruth congratulations!!!! I am very happy for your and Bruce. Hope all goes well with your sister. Deep breaths and smile lol.

Amy good call on returning the scale. Small blips are manageable up fluctuating by pounds no good in my book! Congratulations on reaching your goal!!!! Enjoy your new clothes!!!

Debbie life certainly has been very hectic for you. When is the road project expected to finish?

Pearlrose glad you can concentrate on class and not have to worry about the install at the same time.

Beth no snow for us, we still have plenty left from the last storm. Just rain for the next few days.

This week has been busy at work and home. DS has decided to enlist. Monday he goes to Albany for his medical, background and entry exam. He will know Tuesday if he is accepted. His dad isn't thrilled and has been putting a lot of pressure on DS this week. So you know who got to deal with all that drama lol. DS is more nervous about being turned down at medical than committing to serve. Please keep him in your thoughts. I don't want to think about if he is turned down. He is moving home (FINALLY) next week no matter what the outcome is in Albany.

Life has been full of stress and drama lately. I decided to take a "mental health day" Wednesday as I am bringing Joe and his DD to JFK in the wee hours of the morning. Granted my "MHD" will be spend helping DS move home lol. I also took next Saturday off to help at a fundraiser. They fly back on Sunday the 2nd. However they have to wait for me to get there as I have the accountant at noon. Sorry but I am running out of time to file my taxes lol.

At least tonight is the hockey game which should be fun. I just hope I can stay awake that late lol. I held over 5 hours yesterday so today I am extra tired.

Ok back to the grind. Happy Saturday

Happy Saturday!

A lot of work is being done here at the house - the original house was redone about 15 years ago by the former owner, I don't know who they hired, but there are tons of oddball things wrong with it. The good news is after 3 or 4 visits by the plumbers the awful poo smell is now forever fixed. When they redid the roof they didn't actually make certain the vent went through the roof - they did a smoke test yesterday and saw it shooting out all the wrong spots. My first plumber was like - maybe you just have a stinky house. Ummm...no i don't have a stinky house!! Not a good enough answer buddy.

We have a staircase down to a dock and the water - the landings are really cockeyed so we have someone here straightening it out - I just overheard him calling my hubby on the phone - I don't know who did this initially but....I walked away at that point. Then we're sanding and re-staining and hopefully getting another 5 years out of it.

Hubby dropped a glass yesterday out of the dishwasher, I though we cleaned it up, but I managed to find a small piece as I walked through the kitchen this morning! Ouch! I think it's okay now, I'm afraid to walk on it. We're supposed to go for a hike on a new trail today so I'm really hoping it's fine. I was happy with hubby though, as workers line out their schedules he's saying no workers here on Sundays - we at least need 1 day break.

Good afternoon. Just back from breakfast with my sister and BIL at The Farm. Bruce definitely has the stamp of approval from both of them which is a relief although they would support me in anything I decide. Going to be a busy weekend with some friends for a casual supper tonight, Church in the a.m. with B. preaching and then evening dinner at one son's house with the kids, spouses and grandkid plus one great grand. Instant family!

I also absolutely must finish the Fair Catalogue today for distribution to the schools Monday morning. Sure looking forward to more gentle weather next week and to summer weather in Fort Meyers,

No time to deal with niggles but do have them written down.

Good morning. We have a hated freezing rain forecast this morning, lasting into tomorrow. Getting so sick of this transition into Spring.

Dinner last night with Barb and Mac was fun and very easy. What can be easier than meatloaf, baked potatoes, cole slaw and apple crisp with ice cream? We enjoyed Earth Hour with candles and chat about "the olden days". Did not get much done on the Fair Stuff but do have lots of new ideas - will try to bung them in after Church before we take off to the boonies (north of Kingston) for a large family dinner with yet more of my soon-to-be step relatives. He has four kids, 17 grandkids and three great grandkids. This should be interesting. Sure hope the driving is good tonight because the only way to get there is through the twisted, hilly, isolated and deer-infested Burnt Hills Road.

Tomorrow starts another "interesting" week starting with UC coffee hour, a couple of appointments, a moratorium on community meetings and figuring out clothes for Florida. I will survive!

Enjoy today, friends. One day closer to real Spring!

Good morning!

Hello Ruth! Sounds like you had a wonderful day yesterday! Sorry about the freezing rain. Does not sound fun. Be safe!

Me, just finished making my smoothie and I am having another cup of coffee waiting for my work clothes to dry. I have to go in half an hour earlier this morning and take the dogs up the creek to daycare. I must leave in a timely fashion and not be late. That means if my choice of clothes are not dry in the next 10 minutes I will have to punt. The lead waitress is gone today so I'm taking second spot. It means I don't have to work the back room but will have to close and do the vacuuming. Oh well. I told my sister I would come over and help her clean out garage afterwards. Not fun but I don't want her to have to do it herself.

Have a great Sunday everyone!

PS A little garden porn. I put my snow peas in the ground yesterday. Put a fence around them so the dogs don't dig them up.. We shall see what happens with this Spring which is seeming quite mild

Hey chicks!

Ruth, sounds like a fun and busy day. Enjoy yourself and drive safely.

Debbie, you are a good sister to help. Hope your work day is smooth.

To the other chicks enjoy your Sunday!

DH and I are going to take a walk in a few minutes. Currently the sun is out but we are slated to get hit with rain and general yucky weather by mid-morning. After that it's the grocery store.

Check in later!

Good morning

Ruth glad you enjoyed your dinner last night.

Beth enjoy your walk (raining here)

Amy sounds like quite a lot of work being done. Hope your foot is ok

Debbie working and then helping clean out the garage counts as exercise!

As for me trying to wake up. I didn't get to bed until almost 2! The game was a lot of fun. Meredith spend over an hour just chatting when I dropped her off. We have not had much girl time at all lately so this was way over due. I need to be at the fundraiser at noon so I guess I need to get motivated soon.

Have a great day.

Good morning,

Had a productive day yesterday, went through 3 bookcases and put some in storage, put some in donate pile, gave a huge bag of children's books to my neighbor who has 4 girls and have a pile that I sold with Declutter app. I am slowly getting all of the rooms ready to get the carpet done. I studied and picked up DD2 and dropped off a bag of my big clothes to a family that lost their house in a fire and the wife is my old size. The husband is my DH size but DH did not go through stuff and I had too much to do yesterday.

Today I take my exam in 2 hours so wish me luck, all I did was dream of the exam last night, I passed in my dreams so hopefully that is a good sign

Ruth sounds like you have a fun day planned for today, safe driving. You will be ready for Florida and some downtime

Amy sounds like you were getting a lot of your projects done as well

Debbie nice of you to help your sister after you finish with work. Hope your seeds take

Jekel glad you had fun at the Hockey game last night.

Beth enjoy your walk, did you go look at car's yesterday?

Have a great day everyone!

Good morning!

I woke up this morning to one cat laying on my feet, the other pressed up against my back - when he stretches out he goes from my shoulders to knees - lol They're maine coons, which is a large breed. Oh and hubby was there too. But it was nice to sleep in a little and have the whole gang there.

Jennifer - exciting about your son! My husband did ROTC in college and then was active duty for a short while. He says that experience is what got him organized and motivated.

Debbie - at my old house I had a garden, I put it on the side of a hill on a retaining wall, with in ground sprinklers. It was fantastic. We moved last April and I haven't gotten into yet. I think a few tomato plants may be it this year. I used to have window boxes with herbs so I could just open the kitchen window and cut them. I really miss that, I'm outraged every time I have to pay for rosemary or basil or mint. Plus, it's so much better homegrown. I got into canning as well from all the excess in the garden, plus the peaches off my trees. I learned to make a mean eggplant caponata.

My foot still hurts But today was an off day anyway. I hope by taking it easy it will heal up some.

Just an update. I was worried there was still glass in my foot so with hubby's help we squeezed around the wound and something did come out. I soaked it in epsom salts, and now have a bandaid and neosporin on it. Hopefully that did the trick.
