We have another beautiful day today with sunshine and pleasant temperatures. I wish I could bottle some of this for the winter months!
Nothing special on the agenda today; work, walk, maybe meatball casserole for dinner. I have both shirataki noodles and a spaghetti squash to go with it. I also see a spaghetti squash pie in my near future.
I had the first batch of brussel sprouts from the garden this weekend; they were awesome. DH thought they were overdone but I like the semi-burnt crunchy ones. I also tossed a few broccoli florets onto the baking pan and they were delicious.
Got to run. Have a great day, chicks!

Tuesday Forward into Fall
Good morning, Beachers!
Anybody want some cherry tomatoes? I have lots and no more room in the fridge. (I keep them there because the fruit flies like to party in my kitchen.) Today I will puree then - skins and all - and make a tomato sauce to freeze in small portions.
Now it is officially fall. Why does it seem to get darker in the fall faster than it gets brighter in the spring? I woke at 3 and finally got up at 5 expecting to watch the sunrise. So far, no luck as it's just starting to get light. (You'd think I'd be used to this at 76!)
After yesterday's lengthy and frustrating meeting, I went to Elgin and finally bought a decent DVD player which I'll set up today. (I have two complete sets of Downton Abbey and The Borgias for the dark winter evenings.)
Just looked at my calendar and ..... I have nothing written on it! Maybe this can be a "me" day!
Enjoy your day, whatever it brings.

Did you feel the merge, Beth? Did the earth move?
You have me craving roasted Brussels Sprouts but I've not seen any in the groceries around here or at The Farm. I guess I need a trip to town.

Good Morning
Beth, thanks for getting us started! How exciting to have brussel sprouts. I tried many times to grow them in Alaska, without much luck.
Ruth, I'd love some cherry tomatoes.....perhaps next year they will grow in my little greenhouse. I hope your day stays appt. free! PS-you are the original Energizer Bunny.
Tammy, thinking of you and your friends. Keeping you all in my prayers.
Me, trying to get organized. I am experiencing some new challenges. I am processing everything one day at a time and am spending time thinking through my new challenge and how I can continue to practice self care daily during this time. I have a special AA friend in Glenwood and I went to the Dr. with her 2 weeks ago when she received her breast cancer diagnosis. She has many challenges already as a formerly homeless woman with mental challenges. She has found 2 years of sobriety and wants to walk through this new journey in sobriety. I will walk with her. She has no family to support her and her closest friend (and mine) is in Denver still recovering from a heart virus. She cannot travel to the higher altitude until mid-December. This cancer is aggressive so surgery and follow up treatment is imperative. The next few weeks has many new events although she has not met with the surgeon yet. Yesterday after work, I was able to make that appt. for this Friday.
Kirk is supportive of this process in theory, yet he has challenges right now which most likely will result in surgery, although he is in physical therapy right now. He has a tear in his long biceps tendon. He is having a difficult time with self care and is occasionally shifting his fear and aggravation in my direction. I continue to work my CODA program which reminds me to change myself not others and let others work on their own change.
The surgeons office was certain that surgery would not be next week so I've shifted full speed ahead in planning our trip next week. Today I have 200# of kitty litter to bring in, one box at a time. I always buy in quantity when they have the super sale-$3.99 VS $10.99 can't be beat! I also have trash bins to go to the curb. Add in work and I've logged my exercise for the day.
Have a great day everyone! I have smoothie ingredients set out and am going to enjoy more coffee!

Good morning
Oh my, brussels sprouts Love them so much!
Beth - I agree, this weather is amazing. My garden is still happy and I can sleep at night. We could use a little rain, but I'm loving all the sun. Any chance we can keep the above average temps and below average precip for winter? (I know, not good for the water table but I love it)
Ruth - 6:10 and still dark, yuck. I've been filling up my Netflix and Amazon view lists for all those hours on the treadmill/bike. I'll have to check out the Borgias too.
Same old around here, lots of produce to deal with and never enough hours in the day I made a yummy 2 minute pumpkin pie for DH last night. It has a little honey in it, but I'm sure another sweetener would work. It's just 1 tablespoon so should be easy to adapt.
It's a 4 day work week for paras. I hate the money but love the time off. I'll be able to get some work done before hanging out Saturday with that adorable little guy (can't believe he is 11 months old already!). Now I need to get moving. Doesn't matter how early I get up, I always end up rushing the last 15 minutes.

Good morning Debbie. Glad you keep self-care on top of your list. Sound slike more than enough exercise before you even go to work!

Good morning! I didn't feel the earth shake, but I did think I heard thunder. Was that the merge happening?
Beth, I like my brussels sprouts crispy around the edges, too. Yum! They are plentiful in our markets right now, along with a nice variety of squashes. It should be getting around time for Honey Crisps, too!
Ruth, I was all excited to watch the new season of Downton Abbey on Sunday, only to discover they were only re-visiting it and we still have to wait until January. I hope you get your new DVD player up and running without any hassles.
Pearlrose, have a wonderful trip to Cape Cod! We were there last year around this time, and it was glorious!
It was a smooth transition back into routine yesterday, and good to know I was missed. I'm really glad we had such nice beach weather last week since it really feels like Fall here yesterday and today. Only two more weeks, then I have another vacation - this time much further south. You can tell I'm not ready for summer to be over, LOL!

Good morning Debbie and Cyndi!
Debbie, prayers are going up for Kirk and your friend and all that you are dealing with.
Cyndi, I copied that pumpkin recipe and am eager to try it, too!

Drat! The DVD player has very minimal connecting instructions. I may need to put out a call to someone more techie than I am. There is an online manual that may help - but tomatoes first because there are even more out there today! Need to make a veggie-beef soup too.

Gosh it is only 7:30 and the chicks are flying full speed ahead, well not this chick.
Debbie I give you so much credit taking care of yourself, your friend and Kirk. Cancer is so scary especially facing it alone. Your friend is lucky to have you in her life. Men tend to become little boys when they don't feel well. Hopefully Kirk's surgery will go well when the time comes. My step dad was really obnoxious towards my mom after his back surgery. One day she called me after one of his "moments" saying she left him home because she could and didn't feel guilty about it lol.
Ruth I loved Debbie's comment, yes you are the original Energizer Bunny. Good luck with the tomatoes.
Linda had my first Honey Crisp last night. They are in prime season by us. Beth spaghetti squash has been in my rotation a lot lately. Must have been a good season!
Karen I meant to type retry not resist lol. I did make the taco bake. Changed up the seasoning. Still not my favorite but will be my staple dinner this week.
Yesterday I went clothes shopping for the conference. Decided two of my purchases are going right back. I really despise clothes shopping. I like simple pieces, ok maybe boring even. Too many prints, colors and weird fits made me very frustrated and upset. It is probably best I wear a uniform for work lol.
Back to the grind today. Long days in store with last minute Pope preparations. I am looking forward to staying in the city Thursday and Friday night. Will be nice not to have a long commute home.
Enjoy your day!
