Default 3 lb Loss in 6 Days on P1...Is This Good??

Hi everyone,

I'm just writing to check my progress. I'm a bit concerned because I'm on day 6 of week 1 P1 and I've only lost 3 lbs. I'm seeing such bigger losses in P1 I'm wondering if this is normal...

3 pounds in 6 six days is TREMENDOUS progress no matter what diet/exercise you are doing.
I am not saying this to keep you optimistic on a bad day or whatever. I am saying this because it truly is a fast clip.
Most weight loss is slower especially at your current weight.
Where are you seeing these bigger losses? Are they on heavier folks than yourself or adverts on the SB website? Both of which are not applicable to you.
BTW I don't adhere to South Beach Diet but I am familiar with it. Just saw the post on New Posts and thought... do you REALLY not know how good that it?
Anything faster would be getting into the unrealistic range.

3 lbs in 6 days is terrific!

As others will tell you, I'm sure, weight loss is variable, so this may not be the rate you'll lose in the future. That is OK!!! It's taken me years to learn than losing 5 pounds a week is unrealistic, that as long as I'm losing and sticking to a healthful food plan, that's what's important. If I'd lost 1 pound a week in the last year, I'd be 52 pounds lighter by now

You both make excellent points that I didn't even consider. Any loss is good, and as much as I still miss certain foods it feels good to know I'm doing something good and healthy for my body and eventually I'll get to where I wanna be.

It's hard to stick to it when you don't see the results on the scale as quickly but a few points to remember: 1. think about how long it took you to put ON the weight, it won't come off overnight 2. if you have a smaller amount to lose, say 20 lbs versus my 60, it's going to come off slower 3. think about other things like your energy level, how your clothes fit, etc. other than just the number on the scale.

I know it's easier said than done (I have to repeat these things to myself too) but keep at it!
