Warm and fuzzy Wednesday Beach Chat 12/18
Good morning. I have been enjoying the holiday memories being shared. Makes me "warm and fuzzy." Yesterday I received a package from my mom. Inside was a piece of my family history. A handwritten notebook (pages no cover) which my grandmother kept as a "journal" when she and my grandpa were first married. There were recipes she copied a few creations of her own, their weekly expenses and monthly budget. My mom believes it was written in 1942. Ironically two of their daughter's named were written on a page.
My mom's name was noticeably missing as she was not born until 1944. I am going to store it with other pieces of my family history to pass along to DS one day. I am looking forward to sharing it with Joe tomorrow. Makes me extra excited to be sharing my mom's birthday with her this year. I have not seen my mom in 2 1/2 years! Yes I am a very bad daughter. My step father can be difficult at times. Visiting can often be a challenge depending on his mood when DS and I are there. I've learned over the years a three day visit is usually best
I am actually posting before I go to bed as I may not make it for morning coffee. I have been going since 3:45 this morning. After work we had our Police Unity Tour meeting. Another dumping of icy, snowy goodness made for a long ride home. I was a good girl. Only one glass of wine. Food choices all day were OP. January 1st I will shift gears and get into training mode. I do not need to lose any weight. At almost 5'10 with my weight staying under goal at 142 (guess I should update my ticker) I am happy. However, weighing a little less makes cycling up hill less challenging.
DS did shovel (yeah) not great but at least I could get in the driveway. Granted I got stuck on ice and almost plowed into my garage lol. Fortunately we are warming up by the end of the week.
Ok time for this chick to catch some zzzzzz's. Dreaming if a delayed start for school tomorrow

I hope you slept soundly, Jennifer. Getting that piece of history in your Christmas box is exciting. How fun it will be to read that journal!
Good morning, Jennifer!
We got another dump of snow and ice just as Maggie's concert was letting out yesterday. I managed to make it to her flute lesson and thank goodness it cleared by the time we were on the road again. Cindy did cancel Audrey's violin lesson, though, so I could get home before the roads froze up. The snowscape is beautiful, though, and makes everything look Christmasy.
The all-weather floor mats I ordered for my car are in so I'm picking them up after work today and am eager to put them down since this weather has been wreaking havoc in my car. It's supposed to be sunny for the next few days so I can give the car a good cleaning out and washing. My car is red, but it looks white with all the accumulation of road salt!
I have Amber's concert tonight, and most of our family members will be there, so I'm looking forward to that!
Have a great day and stay warm and dry!

Wow, y'all are crazy chicks! I was long asleep (well, not when Lexiss was up, but....) when the first posts were made.
Jekel, that is an awesome thing to have. I adored my grandma and would love to have a piece of her life like that (she died when I was 14). I hope you had a good night's sleep, and that your visit goes well (btw - 2 day limit visiting family for me!).
Lexiss, I hope you got a lot done, crazy chick! Hope DH feels better soon.
Yesterday was a horribly long day ~ I didn't get home until 9 pm. Not today! I was worn out, I wish I handle long days like that better.
Today is a short work day, then figure out what I'm making for DD (birthday celebration at school) and DS (christmas party treats). LOL....hopefully no tasting from me! DH is also gone overnight again, hopefully it will be quiet this time.
Anyone with exciting pre-Christmas plans?

Love the warm and fuzzy title, Jennifer. I do wish I had a treasure like that notebook, especially when I am living in my maternal grandmother's house.
Aside from the haircut, yesterday's trip to town was not a major success. Somehow I managed to lose my comprehensive list in Bulk Barn and ended up just buying a few things. A cruddy drive home in a snowstorm was the "highlight" of the day. It sure was nice to drive the car into the barn and know I didn't need to go out again. I did get a bit of wrapping done and some accounting so the day was not a complete wash.
Today, Jazz and I go to the Christmas dinner for the pet therapy I do at the Clinic. Food will be a challenge. The staff do a complete Christmas Dinner for the clients who will want to feed Jazz. Luckily my picky wee dog will not accept treats from just anybody so I think he is safe. The owner is another matter - the smell of turkey really weakens my resistance muscle!
I hope everyone has a mellow Hump Day!

Good morning.
I've been working more days and longer shifts than usual as we head into the final rush before Christmas. Today is crazy rushed for me: hair appointment late morning, home with just enough time to change clothes before I head out for a lunch date then straight from there to work. Eating has been great except for these meals out. Today's place has calorie count on the menu.
Have a great day.

Good morning,
Today is supposed to hit 50 degrees later in the afternoon before we start the descend downwards again. I have an afternoon appointment at another location so will probably just head home after that and finish working from home. Tonight is haircut and then I badly need to color tomorrow night.
I made rum cake to test out before making for neighbors- it definitely is food porn and the scale reflected this morning. I need to make sure I do not sample anymore of my baking.
Stay warm and safe

Good evening, chicks. Much warmer day today- on my way home it was 27* which is essentially 50 degrees warmer than going to work yesterday.
I am looking forward to family time beginning this weekend with my own kids and a short visit with all my siblings/parents for the big holiday next week. Like you, Jennifer, I find 2-3 days is the best length for us. I am lucky to still have my parents and always try to be cognizant of the fact that it will probably not be true for many more years.
Looking forward to my upcoming vacation. I am trying to be very productive during the work day so I have the least possible amount to bring home over break.
Have a great evening all. Need to get dinner on the table.

I made it to vacation! I'm exhausted again tonight but tomorrow I can sleep in. Then I'll start on that list of things I've been saving for this vacation. Hope your hump day was a breeze

Happy warm and fuzzy Wednesday! Two days to go until vacation, I am looking forward to some rest and time off with family and friends!
Jennifer, thanks for sharing about your gift...what a wonderful find! Are you planning to experiment with any of those old recipes?
Cyndi, I'm sooooo envious that you are already on vacation. I hope you are already enjoying your time off!
