I saw these at the grocery the other day and holy cow!! they were expensive. But today I went to the food co-op and they had them in the bulk bins! Cheap, too. They also had a bottled chia drink that I really wanted to buy. It looked delicious but it had a juice base so it wasn't on my plan. But I got a sample size of the seeds.
I usually get mine from Amazon, both whole and ground. Like everything there you have to shop around but once I find a good price I use the subscribe and save option to make it even cheaper. They are a bit pricey but I only use a tablespoon a day so they last quite awhile.
I haven't heard of the subscribe and save. That's on Amazon?
In the bulk bins they were a little over $7 a pound. I thought that was very reasonable, since they don't weigh much. I just mixed up some coconut pudding. It's chillin' in the fridge right now! Kind of excited because it tasted really good on the spoon after I stirred it.
That's as good a price as anything Amazon has right now. The brand I've been buying appears to be out of stock and the Bob's is $28.45 for 4 1 lb bags. I didn't spend much time, there might be other brands available.
I love subscribe and save because it's 15% cheaper, no shipping cost, and it doesn't actually commit you to anything other than the first order because you can cancel it anytime without an extra charge. I have about a dozen subscriptions for things I either can't find around here or that are cheaper this way (Go Raw Pizza snacks are my current guilty pleasure)
Wow, I'll have to remember that. I have some teas I buy regularly that are much cheaper on Amazon.
I liked the chia pudding a lot! I mixed mine with 1% milk, a little coconut milk, a few almonds, a few cardamom pods, and a little cinnamon and vanilla. Yum! Not nearly as snotty as I was expecting. I mixed up some more to have for breakfast tomorrow.
