First of all, congratulations! Second - when you are pregnant, you should not try to lose weight. A reasonable and healthy goal is to keep the pregnancy weight gain to a minimum (20 lbs.) and perhaps use this time to start a supportive exercise program like yoga and light cardio, so when you have the baby you will be able to bounce back more easily.

First, talk to your doctor about any eating plan while pregnant. I agree you should not worry about weight loss during pregnancy. However, eating by SB principles is a very healthy, nutritional way to eat during pregnancy. Whole grains, plenty of veggies, adequate dairy, good quality protein, fruit and healthy fats. What's not to love about that? The point is not to lose weight, but many eating this way during pregnancy minimize pregnancy weight gain. Your first step though, is to talk to your doctor.

I think I remember previous pregger ladies saying they only do phase II, and skip phase I. I would think first 2 trimesters aren't as big of deal in which route you take, since most of the weight of the baby is put on during the third trimester. I agree though, check with your doctor before making any radical changes.

Congratulations!!
