Default First day on Phase 1! Can you read my menu?

Hi everyone! Today is my first completed day of Phase1. I feel like I know WHAT to eat, but not so sure about how much... and I struggled a little.

Here is what I ate, day 1.

B - 2 scrambled eggs
2 slices turkey bacon
V-8 juice (low sodium)

L - 2 cups dark salad greens
1 small chicken breast
1/3 avocado
LF feta cheese
2 tbps low carb/sugar ranch dressing

S - Diet soda
Light string cheese
30 pistachios

D - Handful of sauteed (in EVOO) bay scallops
Asparagus spears
1/2 C cottage cheese
4 baby dill pickles

S - SF jello

Can anyone tell me how I did? Obviously I struggled at dinner. I was hungry and frustrated. Looking forward to tomorrow though!

Thanks for the help!

Looks good to me!

Honestly, when I'm on phase 1, I relax a bit about quantity of food, and focus on eating what's on plan and getting through the cravings! I figure it's better to cave into an extra cheese stick now than go crazy and wind up caving to a cake.

One thing that really helps me get through phase one is to make a vegetable-laden soup that is on-hand for cravings, or if I eat a meal and feel like it's not enough (usually this broccoli/cauliflower cheese soup). And since getting "backed up" can be a problem on P1, I'd often add a little Benefibre to it

It looks good to me. If you can, I'd add some beans in there - maybe replace one serving of animal protein with beans.

I'd add a few more raw veggies (maybe with the cheese?) and beans (on the salad). But otherwise, looking good!

Thanks to all of you! I'm excited to start day 2! Learning so much just reading around here... I'll run with your suggestions, and see how today goes!

One day at a time - my motto for Phase 1...

Your food choices look good. Were the pickles with dinner planned, or because you were still hungry? I ask because diet soda often causes me to get the "crazy grazin'" feeling, where I just am not satisfied no matter what/how much I eat.

The great thing about SBD is that going through the process of Phase 1 and slowly introducing Phase 2 foods after the two weeks helps you determine what your trigger foods/drinks are. You will learn the difference between being hungry and when your taste buds just aren't satisfied (to me that's a craving, even if I can not pinpoint exactly what I want).

You may want to try a couple of days drinking water only and avoiding diet soda.

If I felt like I were stalling, I would cut back on the dairy and nuts, replacing them with fish/seafood as necesary.

She doesn't have any dairy listed. Cheese is not counted as dairy. Only milk or yogurt. My advice is just to make sure you're getting at least 4 1/2 cups of veggies per day.

I agree with the diet soda thing....it often triggers binges/cravings.

Sounds great otherwise! Good luck!
