Default first day on phase 1

hello i'm not new to dieting or 3fc but i am new to south beach. after lurking around for a while, i decided to pick up the book yesterday and give it a go. i found the book immediately at goodwill and am pretty excited.

i have the longest history with weight watchers in terms of organized plans for dieting, but in the last few months i've noticed a sugar situation going on in my kitchen and have decided i need to nip it. sugar is not something i typically gravitate towards but seems to be a bit insidious; once you start eating it, you seem to never want to stop. weird but true--at least for me

what i like about sbd is the focus on whole foods; i have been a strict vegetarian for the last 4 years (no meat, eggs, dairy) but have recently re-started eating fish.

i'm excited to embark on a new lifestyle and get this sugar monkey off my back!! thanks for reading!

Welcome to South Beach! While I'm no longer on SBD, my diet is very similar to SBD phase 1. I really thought the logic behind the diet made so much sense and that's what made the diet work for me. I lost about 30 lbs on south beach. I found I needed more structure at the end, but I know so many people who have made it work for them long term. Good luck!

Unhappy South Beach Newbie

Today is my third day on SB. I goofed and ate some Wheat Thins because I thought it was allowed. I am feeling really awful about it. I had to start a diet to lose almost 20 pounds. WW did not work for me. I have tried SB before and remember how hard the first two weeks are. This is a ladt result for me. The sugar cravings are killing me. On top of that, my cholesterol is topping off at 284!!!! I just turned 56 and I feel I am falling apart.

Goofing and going off plan are to be expected and you should see it as an opportunity to learn how to jump right back on board as opposed to just letting it all go. You can do it! A couple of wheat thins are not going to kill you. Deep breath, and keep going. What matters is how you handle your whole week, not each minute.
