Today is my first day on the South Beach Diet and I have a pretty big question. Does anyone know if you can use the Crystal Light mix-ins? I am going cold turkey on my Dr Pepper drinking and figure these will help. Also, if anyone has any tips, advice or anything concerning this diet, I would LOVE it. Thanks everyone and good luck on your weight loss journey!!

I use it too. Haven't had any issues with it causing cravings or anything. Sometimes that's just what I have to do in order to down some more water!!

You do have to count it towards your 100 calorie sugarfree treat allowance

Thanks ladies. I guess it won't be too bad going towards my 100 calorie allowance since they are only 5-10 calories a pack. I also didn't know about the 100 calorie sugarfree treat allowance. Guess I will have to do more research into all of the allowances and stuff.

Welcome, Robin.

I found this old thread... very interesting.

As for me, I drink a lot of crystal lite and it does not seem to have any negative impact for me. I tried cutting out artificial sweeteners a few months back and just did not drink as much plain water.

You might also try adding something OP to your water to jazz up the taste, like lemon, lime or cucumber slices.

I've never heard of the 100-calorie limit for sugar free treats either...is that in the old book? Or the super-charged book?

RobinP! We're happy to have you joining us here on The Beach! You'll find lots of support, hints and advice here, and if you have any questions, someone is always happy to help.

As far as the sweet treats question, in the old book it says you may have up to 75 calories of a sugar-free sweet treat per day; and in the new Super-charged book it ups it to 75-100 calories a day.

I use Crystal Light too - the banana orange one really helps me when I'm craving a glass of juice in the morning.

P.S. Welcome to the Beach

Thank you, WaistingTime. That was very interesting and helpful. I do drink lots of plain water, so I guess the few Crystal Lites I do use are ok. I just like that it helps get a few more bottles/ozs of water in a day. I am going to try the dilute thing and see if maybe that helps.

RobinP!

Congrats on your commitment to ditch the Dr Pepper! I find the longer I stick with SBD the more I just enjoy plain ol water but always enjoyed the diversity of the Crystal Lite products.

Best wishes!
