Default Unexpected go-to ingredient: lf cream cheese

I always scoffed at the use of lf cream cheese because I felt like it was still pretty high in calories and a waste of them. But I've had a box of it around for a couple of weeks and find myself using it in small quantities all the time with big taste advantage. A small amount really adds a creamy taste. For instance, tonight I'm making my creamy saurkraut with pork chops and about 100 calories of the lf cc (divided between me and my husband) makes all the difference and makes the meal so creamy and satisfying. Just wanted to share the love of lf cream cheese.

I agree. I use a little in Chiken Tikka Masala instead of heavy cream and it comes out great. I even used it the other night with chicken broth and cajun seasoning and made a sauce for my chicken!

I have been doing the same kind of thing, and have also made a couple of nice creamy sauces using lite coconut milk instead of cream...also SO good!

Oh yeah I'll toot the LF cream cheese horn! It's been a secret ingredient of mine even before SB. Just so easy and flavorful and seemingly indulgent.

and since this has been on my mind now, i even added some to my veggie saute last night. i used about 5 zucchini, 3 tom, 3 heads cauli, chicken broth, an onion, garlic, salt, and pepper. then the cream cheese entered my mind, so i added 1-2 oz, and it was great!!!

I had a little bit of lowfat whipped cream cheese on slices of cucumber, topped with smoked salmon and chives. Yum!

I mix my lf cream cheese with Mrs.Dash and garlic powder to make a yummy dip for my veggies! (I love the whipped lf best!)
