  • Good morning. I think I got it right today!

Just let the dogs back in and they are wet and cold - I guess the weatherperson was right in predicting below normal temperatures and rain for the Syrup Festival weekend. Oh well - people come anyhow as they are going sir-crazy and can't do outside work.

I baked up a storm yesterday (with some nibbling, alas!) and am taking it over to the Museum very shortly. I considered doing that last night and then remembered our darned raccoons that are hanging out between the Mill and Museum. They are cute but so destructive!

Once this weekend is over, we can celebrate Easter and then Spring!

    Happy weekend!
  • The true weekend is here! Have fun at your syrup festival! I do hope we get a spring to celebrate here in New England! Today is busy for me!!! Trying to squeeze in a run (that's why I'm up having coffee at 6am on a Saturday) before baseball at 8 and soccer at 9 and a hair appt at 11. After that, I think I will relax...though I do have laundry to do ...blah....then opening day tomorrow! Where is my weekend???!!! Anyway...have a great one everyone!!
  • Hello, hello!

Ruth it's way too cold for April here, too. We've got a heavy frost and the thermometer reads 17 degrees. *Brrrrrr* I'm postponing my walk this morning. We haven't had any raccoon visitors yet this spring but the skunks are everywhere! I've been a nervous wreck during the dog's early morning and late evening trips outdoors.

I'm headed to Massachusetts for the day. Two teens from the youth group are going with me. We'll pick up my mom and head to a Korean restaurant for lunch, then a Korean grocery store (one of the girls is a homesick exchange student from South Korea) and then spend the rest of the afternoon/early evening at the mall before having a quick supper and then heading back to Maine. We've been planning this for a while and I think I'm as excited about it as the girls are.

My biggest challenge today will be the 7 or 8 hours driving. The girls have been planning their "road trip snacks" for a while, so I'm going to be trapped in a small space with loud music and lots of junk food. And no SF chewing gum.....

    Enjoy your Saturday friends.
  • Cold, rainy and windy Saturday here, too. I'm glad Jake and I managed to move the load of garden soil off the drive and into the garden yesterday. We still have a load of mulch on the driveway, but we covered it with a tarp and it should be fine.

Ruth, I do hope it's another successful day for the festival today, despite the weather. I know everyone is lining up for your goodies.

Kmac, just reading about your busy day makes me exhausted! Enjoy your day!

Heidi, your day sounds really fun, and I sure wish I could join you! Have safe drive and have a blast!

Jake and I are just going to drive up to the Amish market near Lancaster this morning. They have an awesome natural foods section that has some stuff I want to get for Mom, and we'll stop by and visit with her and Dad on the way home. Then I think I'm going to make a pot of Mushroom, White Bean and Tomato Stew and curl up with my book for the rest of the afternoon.
If I feel adventurous, I may switch the clothes from the out-of-season closet around.
  • Good morning everyone,
My first day of Wendie-ing. Since this is the big eating day I doubt it will be a problem for me!! I'm having coffee, and then I'm going to go out for a walk, come back and dye my hair, meet friends for a quick coffee, take my son and a friend to a play, hull strawberries for the egg hunt, and then show up at the egg hunt. All this by 2:45pm!! Then I can relax.

Hope everyone has a great day!
  • Good morning.

Ruth - You paint some great images of your home and the people in it.

Kristen - Busy! I hope you get some time for yourself in there.

Heidi - Sounds fun. Except for the car part. Fortunately when we take long rides my boys use their headphones.

Linda - We used to stop at a similar market on our way to my mom's old lake house. They also had amazing baked goods

Matilda - Busy! I tried doing my own hair once. Couldn't get the back. Fortunately most of the gray is on top!

It is busy here too this weekend. My teen has a practice AP exam today, then an indoor soccer game, then tonight he babysits and tomorrow he had basketball and we go to my Mom's for dinner. And DH is still not done with the taxes. I suspect his working on them last night is the stress that led me off plan for the first time in ages and my tummy is rumbling this morning with regret.
  • Good morning,

    Ruth enjoy the syrup festival

Heidi have fun sounds like an enjoyable day...pixie dust for will power on car ride

Kristen and Matilda have fun running around...I will be doing the same.

Cottage have fun at the amish market

Karen hope your stomach feels better soon.

Today is Prom day- first have to run DD1 to Ortho appointment then we got to pick up flowers. I am taking DD2 to Easter egg hunt and then DD1 to get her hair done and then we start the process of getting ready and then have to go get pictures before prom and at prom since she is on court.

Tomorrow have to teach children's church and then have to go to work for another maintenance window.

I haven't had anything to drink or eat yet, I am going to weigh in and then get breakfast going for everyone.

    Have a wonderful weekend.
  • Good morning!!

Life definately sounds busy for lots of us. Today I have Ladies day at church. I am in charge of an icebreaker and then the teen girls in the breakout sessions. I am only staying for the morning. In the afternoon I am taking Tanner to his Alice performance. Then maybe tonight I can sit back and relax.

I hope everyone has a great day!

    Jasmine
  • Hi chicks, I'm sorry I haven't been around much lately, I have been popping in to read you, though. Usually when I'm not posting it's because the news is not good, but not this time - I have been perfectly on-plan (Ph1) for two weeks tomorrow. I paid for my indiscretions with a 4-day booming headache, which I hope I can remember for the next time I am tempted! Not weighing though, because I don't want the mind games going on. I go back to the doctor next Thursday and will get weighed then. I've already told myself that as long as I haven't gained anything since last month's visit I will be happy. I also haven't been doing too well with exercise, as I developed shooting pains in my calf muscles and had to discontinue my walks after I got stranded and had to have DH come pick me up. I think it's due to prednisone withdrawal, so hopefully that will be over soon too, and I pick up my exercising again. So, enough about me, let's talk about me!
Went to DD's dance company performance last night - really good! Otherwise, this weekend is all about laundry/paperwork/taxes, blah.

Ruth, nibbling is better than gorging, which is surely what I would have done.
Heidi, enjoy your road trip, sounds fun!
Jasmine, I hope you get your relaxation in too...
Pearl, DD1's proms were always stressful for some reason, hope yours is not!
Karen, your DH is not the only one, if I can't get it done, I'll just file an extension, no stress there...
oh, cottage, I dread the clothing switch. I have been putting it off, but DD2 started dragging out the summer stuff, so we have every season out now. I really need to get her closet organized.
Matilda, I'll have to read up on the Wendieing I've been hearing about. Our egg hunt was scheduled for today, but canceled due to the rain. I'm kind of glad about that.
  • Good Morning

I'm a full blown sickie today...fortunately nothing on the agenda I have to do. Pups are out and I'm going back to bed.

    Have a great weekend everyone!
  • Better late than never Yes, I'm still drinking coffee. I'm just going to flaunt my BP whenever anyone gets on my case about the coffee drinking (and ignore the summer moments).

Debbie - Take extra good care of you today my friend. Hope some rest does the trick.

Schmoodle- Always lovely to see you around here

everyone else. I am lazy today.

I was hoping to get in the garden but it's cold and about to rain so not sure how much I'll get done. Other than that it's the usual weekend stuff for me with a benefit concert DW is putting on tonight mixed in.

Apparently my cat is very needy today, what a little pest. He doesn't understand that it's really hard to type while being head butted

I started a Phase 1 + apples this morning. I really need to get back on track but just can't bring myself to give up the apples unless I absolutely have to. I'll give this a week and see how the cravings are.
  • Cyndi, I'm not about give up my coffee obsession, either, so I lift my cup to you. I'm sorry to hear about your diagnosis of Hashimoto's, and I hope you get everything under control.

Debbie, I'm glad you are getting some much-needed rest and hope you start feeling better soon. Take care.

Pearl, have fun with the prom preparations! I love all the excitement and flurries that go along with it.

Schmoodle, hooray for staying OP! I always can tell when you're doing Phase 1 when I see Taco Bake on your menus.

to everybody and I hope you're all enjoying your weekend!
  • Happy day to all - had a little whoosh with the return to exercise - happy to see the other side of 165 for the first time in 8 months. Reminds me how much easier it would have been if I had STAYED OP back in August . . .

But hey - I'll take that as a lesson learned! Two years ago I weighed 198 pounds, so could be an awful lot worse that just some re-traced steps.

    Be well, all -
  • Good morning.

Well, despite rain and cold, we had lots of folks at the Festival yesterday. Today should be better because it's "light" rain instead of "heavy". I am about to make three loaves of sandwiches for the pancake cookers lunch. It should be a quick job as I have the fillings made already - tuna, egg salad, ham and a couple of PB & J. That will spare them from having to eat pancakes two days in a row.

I'm not sure if the Pypers are coming up today but do have a recipe in mind to throw together for supper if they do show. All I need to do is get some chicken and throw it together. It's definitely not an SBD recipe, a golden oldie from the 1960's ... psuedo food porn.

I'm outta here at eight to do Mill and Museum tours so had better hustle and get those sandwiches made. Enjoy your Sunday and do some extra relaxing for me.
  • Good morning It's a cold rainy day to be followed by a cool, very windy day. I may never make it to my garden.

Not much going on around here today - laundry, cleaning, some cooking. I've got a few hours of work tonight too. Right now I'm just enjoying my coffee and planning the day.

Ruth - Good luck getting through the day. I hope you have a free hour planned sometime this week!

Debbie - Hope you're doing better today.

Okay, off to make breakfast. I'll be back later
