Vicki, without seeing the ingredients listing, it's hard to know. But from the nutritional info, they seem to be OK so far for at least Phase 2.

They look fine for all Phases. Enjoy, but watch your portion size.

yay!!! 1 serving size is 22 and I had less than that yesterday and it satisfied me. I can't see having 22 as these are to be used on a salad.

These things are AH-mazing! I could eat them plain but they are also great as intended, as a bit of "crunch" in a salad.

Wait, they have rice. What kind of rice? And, I thought green peas were not allowed on Phase 1 (too starchy). Can someone clarify, because they look delish and I want to try them!

Bad news. These are essentially corn curls/Cheetos made with a pea and rice dough instead of corn.
They taste great, but they're high fat, high glycemic junk food - not South Beach friendly at all.
They look healthy (they're even shaped like peas in a pod - buth they're pressed in a mold to look that way, they're not actual pea pods).
One bite really tells you they're not so healthy - they're greasy, salty and they melt in your mouth, and it's super easy to eat a whole bag in a single sitting - very bad sign.
Sugar snap peas are ok, because they still have the fibrous outer shell, these do not. They're made from pea paste (from just the peas, not the edible pod).
When I was at my highest weight, deluding myself that I was eating "healthy" because my main grocery store was a "health food store;" I bought a bag of these almost every week (sometimes two).
I knew they couldn't be healthy, because of the greasy crunch, but I convinced myself that they couldn't be "that bad" (after all they came in a green bag, were sold in a health food store, and were shaped like real fresh snap peas - has to be healthy, right?).
I didn't think the parenthetical part, but I think I believed it without realizing it anyway. I realized this while eating these things while watching a documentary on marketing. On the show, they were discussing how colored packaging affects our impressions of a product. Green packaging conveys the image of healthfulness, and I realized at that moment, that I'd been gobsmacked by successful marketing. I was eating crap and patting myself on the back for a making a healthy choice that wasn't.

Let's clarify this.
Since they contain rice, they are not allowed on Phase I but would be OK in limited amounts on Phase II. Sugar snap peas ARE allowed on Phase I - it's the peas you shell that are not allowed. They are listed in the Phase II list as "green peas" and a serving is ½ cup.

But Ruth - wouldn't they only be phase 2 compliant if they were made with brown rice?

I'd rather eat the sugar snap peas. The rice would be a no-no for me. I agree with kaplods.

AHA! I had always wondered about these. I love them (a little too much; I tend to eat the whole bag once it's opened) but I always considered them a "cheat." I am embarrassed to admit that I never thought about them not being actual snap peas. Though I did wonder how they got that amazing light texture from a pea pod! <sigh>
I read a debate a while back about how UNhealthy these were - greasy, salty, etc. It was on a vegan website that I can't locate now. But this comes close: http://smallbitesnutrition.blogspot....ea-crisps.html
Sad, sad. They are so delicious.

Thanks for clarifying this, Kaplods, and going into detail about these seemingly innocent crisps. I only went by the ingredients and the nutritional listing, but I must admit, I didn't notice that they contained rice.
