thoughts on coconut water?
I have been told my several of my yoga instructors that its an amazing way to rehydrate after the heated power yoga classes...i think it has a lot of sugar! any thoughts on this or ways to rehydrate i do not like the vitamin zero waters or antyhing like that with aspertame, it makes me sick!
Thanks!!!!

They are a special treat for me. They are way too expensive to drink all the time, but they are so freakin' good. I get the original flavor, and make sure it is just coconut water and no added sugars. I wouldn't recommend on phase 1, but I think they are fine for P2.

Pickles are GREAT. They are a calorie free snack with lots of electrolytes to replenish those lost in exercise. And they're cheap! A swig of the juice is highly beneficial too. I've also read the same of beef jerky, but I can't stand the stuff and I don't know how beef jerky fits in SBD.
And yeah, what zeff said too! (#^.^#)
(ETA: I meant pickles and a possible swig of brine or jerky PLUS drinking plenty of water.)

Unrelated: pickle juice was the best hangover cure as voted by Self magazine last year. I've never tried it, but can imagine it might work.

It's actually totally related! A hangover is actually just severe dehydration, since your body is using so much water to flush out all the toxins of the alcohol! Pickle juice is PACKED with natural electrolytes, thus the reason for it being a great hangover cure!!! ;-)

OK. From now on when I am done with the pickles in my jar, I'll freeze the juice just in case I need it!!

I haven't tried Coconut Water but I've heard it's way better at rehydrating you than regular water. I would say it's a once in a while treat...maybe only after yoga class??? And I have learned something new today...I never knew that about pickle juice (although I did know that a hangover is just dehydration...ahhh, the perks of having lots of medic friends who can help you out w/ a bag of fluid, LOL).

Pickle juice? Pickles? Seriously??! I might have to try this! I occasionally get the worst headaches after I exercise and I think it's due to dehydration. Glugging water doesn't always work and I try to stay away from gatorade etc. because they are packed with carbs, even the "low cal" ones!
I am going to buy some pickles today. A big fat jar .

Coconut water is very tastey. I've only drank it directly from the coconut when we were in areas that have it. When site seeing with lots of walking I found it very refreshing.
It is very expensive to buy it in the can. I'm not sure if it will still have the health benefits once you add all the preservitives and such to keep it fresh tasting months on the shelf.
I don't think it has any sugar-at least it doesn't taste sweet.
