Default Periods (Sorry!!)

Hi guys,

Sorry for the yucky topic but I have a question re: low carbing and periods. In December I started a new pill, in Jan. I started Atkins and in Feb I switched to Phase 1 SB.

In January and again in February, I have got my period a week earlier than normal, even though I still had a week left of pills left in my bc pill packet. I was on this pill before, and I never had that last time. I have decided to stop taking the pill because it is driving me mad (for many reasons, not just this) but has anyone ever had this or any other menstrual problem while low carbing (which phase one is)?

I just thought my diet is the only thing that has changed... I am not going back to my gyno, because she is pro-pill and won't give me anything else but I am going to a different one soon to discuss getting the coil instead. All these hormonal things don't agree with me...

Thanks for any advice!

xx

Have you ever read about fertility awareness? I don't do hormonal birth control and it was really interesting for me to learn more about my cycle.. I recommend _Taking Charge of your Fertility_.

Hi Kara,

I've had a look into it. It might be worth considering as a 'back up' method! I think i'm gonna go for the Gynefix (a new coil) as a replacement for the pill and will look into your suggestion too. The main thing is I don't get pregnant (would be a bit of a disaster for me and my boyfriend at the moment).

Back to periods though (?!), has anyone ever got their period early / late while low carbing? I'm interested because I will be trying to control my hormonal acne with diet once I'm off the pill, so proof that nutrition affects the monthly cycle / hormones, is very valuable info!
