Anyone on South Beach that was able to lose weight??
Anyone on south beach that was able to lose weight without exercising? just watching calorie and carb intake??? I was just wondering if its possible to lose weight without necessarily exercising.i was doing lots of exercising but it seemed like i was exercising too much and not able to eat enough to make it beneficial..so im going to cut it down to 30 minutes instead of doing an hour and a half..

Most people say that weightloss is 80% diet and 20% exercise. That's a good combo but just cutting calories works too.

I'll admit that I don't exercise. Once in awhile I get a wild hair and decide to work out for a week or so, and then I stop. Standardly, I don't exercise, and I have a desk job. Since Jan 3, I have lost 11 lbs. Overall I've lost 36 lbs but have had my ups and downs over the years (I had lost 47 lbs at my best.) I think it's a personal choice.

Yes it is- many people lose weight this way but you have to be pretty good with your diet Currently I'm not exercising but the weight is still going down.

I don't exercise much. I lost about 27# on SB without exercising. Have been able to maintain for almost 3 years by eating clean about 90% of the time.

It's possible to lose weight without exercising but you will lose muscle right along with the fat and that is highly undesirable. It takes more calories to support muscle so you won't be able to eat as much on maintenance. You will not be healthy at any weight if you don't exercise 30 minutes most days of the week. It takes at least 60 minutes for exercise to make a difference in you weight.

I lost about 25# in 3 mos. without exercising, started exercising regularly (at least 5 days/week for at least 60 minutes) and lost another 60-ish in 7 mos. It comes off a lot slower now, and I find that if I don't exercise, I don't lose as rapidly nor do I feel as good. I only allow myself indulgences - like wine and dark chocolate if I've exercised that day.

I've had my body fat analyzed every year and it's actually decreased to 17% while maintaining about the same amount of lean tissue (around 98# - normal for my age) while eating SB and doing minimal exercise. I am active, have a job where I'm on my feet all day and walk a lot at work, but don't regularly exercise. I eat as much on maintenance as I did while losing, so this hasn't been the case for me.

I've never seen exercise give me any sort of boost for my weight loss - no matter which program I was on (SB, WW, or Atkins) and I've lost (and gained) significant amounts over the years.
My sister - who has a completely different body "shape" than mine, has found that exercise DOES boost her weight loss in combo with diet.
As many people all over 3FC have said, our bodies are like science experiments - just make sure you try something long enough (4-6 weeks) before you give up and try something else.

Both times I've done SB I lost my first initial "chunk" of weight without exercise -- about 40 the first time and 20 this time (I have a LOT less to lose this time), but then I started walking and doing pilates once I hit that initial plateau
