So, I've been wanting to restart the C25K program for a while now. I started it about 2 years ago after my youngest was born, but stalled out at about 3 weeks when I just got lazy. I have 2 young children at home, so it just hasn't been working out lately with the shorter days and my husband's work schedule for me to run outside. Well today, he was going to be home early, so I was determined to get started. And of course, come time to run, and my ipod was dead. So I head out, deciding to walk and run a little as I can (my own C25K day 1). But something clicked in my head, and I thought why don't I just see how far I can run. So I just...ran (well, plodded, but still). He called after about 20 minutes and said a client needed to see him back at the office, and I needed to come home. But I swear, when I got home after 25 minutes of non-stop running, I could have gone longer. I just plotted my run into mapmyrun, and I went 2.11 miles in my 25 minutes. Not bad!

Anyway, just had to share. I really felt a glimmer of the old me. I used to run a bit 10 years and 50 pounds ago. But I have really been struggling to get back in gear, with just a 30 minute walk here and there.

I just feel so great now. It isn't really even as much the exercise as the mind shift. Instead of thinking I wouldn't be able to do much of anything, I just assumed I could run, and I did. Yay me! Next time I can make it out the door, I am going to just go run 3 miles.

Heck with you C25K!

Hey there. Congratulations! You did awesome! As someone who has stopped running recently, this motivates me to get back out there. Thanks and enjoy your next run! :0)

Thanks everyone. It was just such a revelation to me. I have really been struggling with exercise lately - I just haven't been able to get it in gear. I haven't run more than 5 minutes at a time in over 5 years. I think sticking (mostly) to the SB plan this past month has really help me believe that I CAN do what I set out to do. And that is really a 180 for me.

I just hope I can get back out there again before the feeling fades...

That is really cool!

I have been trying to get back into running for almost this entire year. I had a start of C25K again - outside instead of on the treadmill - in the spring and for some reason never got past week 2 or 3 outside. I don't know why it is such a big hurdle for me. Anyway, LOVE to hear stories like yours!
