Talking Hi there! Newbie Here!

Hi everyone!

I'm new to the forums and wanted to say hello as I anticipate being here lots! I've read the book several times (as well scoped out a few other plans) and decided that this way of eating best suits me - I tend to be carb sensitive and really focusing on the healthy vs. unhealthy carbs has proved to work the best for me in the past!

I've been lurking here for a few weeks as I've done my research. I have a fridge full of yummy p1 options and I'm ready to go! I found the Kalyn's Kitchen blog and made the cilantro lime chili today and it was to die for! Since I plan to cozy up on this board, maybe I should introduce myself!

My name is Kara, I am a special education teacher and usually super stressed with my job. Stressed usually equals unhealthy eating for me - tend to be the emotional eater type. I work out 3-4 days per week - my husband and I have been working with RKC instructors (kettlebells!) since May and have seen so many changes with muscle definition, strength gains, etc. With our eating under control, I think we'll see even more results! We live in Omaha, NE, have been married almost 2 years and are hoping to start a family soon - another reason to lose this weight now!

Welcome to the beach, Kara!!! A lot of people seem to do better staying on-plan when they visit the forum frequently, so feel free to jump right on in. There are several good threads stickied to tell you what foods are and aren't allowed plus we have a great recipe section full of great ideas for on-plan dinners, snacks, and desserts. Feel free to jump in on the daily chat thread...it should have the name of the day in the title. It's general day-to-day chit-chat but builds good camaraderie between those of us who are battling the bulge w/ Southbeach.

1st goal - 10% of body weight lost - MET 06/21/10
2nd goal - 100 lbs lost
3rd goal - 180 lbs!!!

I will remain on plan for one full year without giving up no matter what!

One for every ten pounds lost

1st goal by 01/01/11 - 270 met 12 31 10!
2nd goal by 03/19/11 - 250 lbs met 03 16 11
3rd goal - 242 lbs Oops - have to work on this one again.
4th goal - 212 lbs when I will move from being obese to just overweight
