I am new to this diet and have an unresolved question. Thought it would be easier to ask you all. I have salsa I bought from Target and it has 2 grams of sugar, but it is all completely natural. Which makes me curious. Is this sugar just a natural veggie sugar?
Also, can I have tomatoes during this first phase, let alone the second?

Many salsas have added sugar so you need to check the ingredients. Salsa with added sugar is a no in Phase 1. South Beach is going to teach you to be a hardcore label reader
It is important to read the book too. Understanding the reasons we make the food choices we do can be really helpful. This forum is also a great place to get information and questions answered along with the information in the book.
