Default Natural Sweeteners in Phase 1?

Are there any natural sweeteners allowed in phase 1? I don't eat any artificial sweeteners and really would like some sort of dessert! That Warm "Brownie" recipe looks amazing but I don't want to use splenda...

I've used both agave nectar and palm sugar with no ill-effects, but it is controversial and not technically on plan. agave and palm sugar both have very low glycemic loads and don't spike the blood sugar like regular sugar does.

it's really about how much off-plan you want to go. that being said, if i am using natural sweeteners, i don't use them often. i will forgo sweet snacks most days.

am big fan of agave nectar (comes in fluid form here--same stateside?).
i am hypoglycemic and it has never spiked me like sugar has.

even so- i use splenda all thru phase one

Personally I wouldn't use agave or palm sugar in phase 1, too much like fruit. I do use them now without any problems (as long as I measure!).

Thanks! Well, agave nectar that and maple syrup/honey are what I typically use. I might try and make something this weekend with agave nectar but in a very small amount. I'm hoping my cravings will disappear by then but we'll see. I've also noticed that agave nectar doesn't make my blood sugar spike so I don't crave whatever I make like with other sweeteners (a big reason I stopped using artificial sweeteners because they just made me crave more!).

What about stevia and/or xylitol? I have used both in moderation. I don't see stevia on the Phase 1 list, but I think it should be OK. Candy made with xylitol is allowed in small amounts.

Agave is good. REALLY good. But personally I cannot use sweet stuff on P1 because once I have the sweet taste in my mouth, I just want more
