I read somewhere that people mix sugar free jello into it to flavor it. I've started doing this and it's really good!

Wow thanks cottagebythesea. I know it is low on the GI, I just thought ALL forms of even natural sugar would be out. Makes sense thou, being that the diet is more geared toward low GI and not low carb. Being able to use agave is going to help DH a lot!

I add crystal lite to mine.... only way I can stand the stuff, and some flavours are better than others (cant really give you a ratio though... gotta just add and taste, add and taste).... but if you don't like it, then don't eat it.... have a glass of skim milk instead!

I live in Greece. Fresh Greek yogurt in Greece is like cream, no icky taste and could be eaten by itself tho is commonly enjoyed with honey, fruit in syrup, nuts, different cereals, meaning oats, meusli, etc. I know Fage 0% is available there, a brand that is also in our supermarkets. Fage is good, but I can't even eat that by itself and because it's 0% fat, well there you have it however, it's still so healthy.

It is common in restaurants here to have a huge tray of yogurt brought to the table as a dessert with assorted fruits in syrup, and nuts but it is full fat, heavenly and I could eat a huge bowl of it. I don't know why I am writing this now, guess it's just in defense of the real Greek yogurt, the best yogurt on earth.

Have a great day everyone.

Maybe I need to try another brand or something. I was eating the flavored stuff, and the flavor was fine, I just can't take the after taste. I'll give it another shot before I give up and go back to regular yogurt.

Boo Boo - I think its the only Greek food I've ever tried and didn't like!

cb - i've tried most of the brands available in supermarkets and specialty stores. my favorite widely known brands are fage, voskos and oikos (but only the flavored oikos, the plain is weird). yoplait and dannon are trying to jump on the greek yogurt band wagon and have failed terribly. the taste and texture are both off.

shop around for different brands, each one tastes different and has a bit different texture.

The Dannon one tasted horrible to me. I use either Oikos or Trader Joe's.

I've never even heard of the voskos or oikos brands...Fage is a big name here tho with dairy products. Wonder if they're imported or made there? Funny.

I love the Fage kind! All the rest I've tried were not very good, IMO. I put cinnamon and a packet of Splenda in mine.

I hate it plain, but it's great as an add in for chicken salad or potato salad. I have a weight watcher recipe for that.

god bless you. I just tried nonfat fage with two packets of splenda, 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract and a hefty dose of cinnamon and it was absolutely divine. Would never have thought of this on my own. I will also try using it in place of sour cream in the future.

Ditto. It has so much more protein than sour cream. It's fab.

I buy the Greek yogurt for my little one. He loves it. I think the after-taste is vomit-y. I do like how thick and creamy it is. Just the aftertaste gets me.

Ooo, that would get me too, now I will have to think of something else

With my chicken salad, I use so many other ingredients that it covers any afterftaste.

I imagine a little lemon and some stevia or other sweetener would be good.
