Movie Theater munchies...

We are going to a movie this weekend. And I want to prepare myself for wanting a snack during the movie. We are used to large cola drinks and a big popcorn. I am thinking about sneaking in a serving of pistachios already shelled to have some crunch, and either buying water or sneaking it in too. Does anyone else have any tricks for situations like this where you know you will be tempted?

Just sneak in food in your purse. I can tell you as a former movie theatre employee none of us CARE what you bring in, as long as it's not obvious. I bring in soda smuggled in my purse all the time.

the last time i went to a movie i smuggled in a bottle of water and a special K Mocha bar (i crave the chocolate)! yum! thank goodness for big purses!

I've actually popped my own bag of popcorn before and taken it in with a drink! lol
They really don't care...The big movie theater here at the mall actually let you just carry whatever you brought in without hiding it for a while until they noticed how much people stopped buying consessions which is a huge money maker for them.

....It'd be nice if they served something besides pickles and water for healthier options. Until then Im going to keep sneaking food in!

Ditto! There isn't anything healthy EVEN if you are willing to pay for it.

Some theaters have really big pickles, and they're great if you don't mind the sodium. Other than that and Diet Coke, I avoid the concessions. I normally keep a WonderSlim protein bar in my purse at all times, and will reach for that if I want to snack at a movie.

I've brought in water and my own popcorn or healthier snacks before... just throw it in a ziplock.

I bring nuts, soynuts, anything else I'm craving at the time. I'm a diet coke addict so a big soda from there is a treat. I actually have "movie purses" that I switch to when we go to the movies. :)

Thanks so much for the ideas. I didn't even think about the Crystal Light idea until you said that! That's a really good idea for me! :)

I noticed last weekend that our favorite local movie theater offers a bag of dried fruit with no added sugar in its concessions. I thought that was pretty cool. Also, there is a cafe attached, so getting a nonfat latte to take in is pretty appealing.

Other than the latte, if I'm going to have something, I usually bring a little bit of very good dark chocolate and some almonds, or some dried unsweetened cherries, for myself. Sometimes I will bring a little chocolate for the kids, too. We no longer get them sodas at the theater, but they and their dad may share some popcorn.

I like grapes and carrot sticks for movies :) Stuff that can be snacky and eaten in small nibbles!

I would take an apple, but that is really crunchy. I have fallen in love with apples. I never thought I would say that...they have to be Gala apples though. I have half of one everyday, and it always seems like a treat!

You could cut it up before you go!
