Default SBD Chat - Wednesday August 10

Good morning! I am pleased to announce that we finally got rain. Sometimes the whole world around us gets it but Delta gets missed. It's something to do with the rain following the St Lawrence or Rideau Rivers and annoying us because we are in between. Anyhow, things look much happier out there this morning.

I'm outta here shortly for a busy morning. First I go for car servicing, some shopping in town and then to get fitted for my new hearing aids. I've held off long enough and the hearing loss is getting worse. I seem to be constantly asking people to repeat what they said and can't hear the sermons in Church - not always a bad thing. The poetry reading last night was a waste of time but I did buy Anders book. He has promised to come over for tea and a personal reading.

So - on with the day. My hump today is mental rather than physical but I'll adjust.

Come and chat.

Good Morning

Yay for rain, Ruth, and thanks for getting us started. We're leaving for New Mexico in about an hour. That's if we can fit all the s**t in the car. 2 of 3 bikes are already loaded and I need to get the cooler packed which includes picking produce from the garden and making a salad. We'll have a picnic lunch in Taos. Food will be good on this trip. My sis really needs to get back into her food groove and so I've pledged to eat clean, too.

Happy hump day everyone!

Good morning Definitely hump day around here. There was a really sad homicide in our community yesterday and we will all be feeling it for a long time. Then last night DW had terrible muscle cramps (probably from the meds) and didn't sleep much. As a result I think I managed 4 hours but not all together. I've got a 12 hour day so coffee will be my best friend. Sorry to be such a bummer lately. I need an attitude adjustment. This weekend I'm going to work on my priorities list for the post job time. Some things that improve my attitude will be on top of that list!

Ruth - Hump day is a good day for taking care of little annoyances. Hope yours is productive and ends with some relaxation on the porch.

Debbie - I so wish I was meeting you in NM again, only with lots of free time to enjoy the scenery and the company! Have fun

Good morning.

Ruth, I'm already missing having my coffee with you, with Jazz in my lap and Disney at my feet. I'm glad you're still taking it easy and not overloading your schedule. Enjoy your private reading with Anders.

We had enough rain yesterday to make the grass and garden do a Happy Dance, and everything looks refreshed and greener this morning. Today was the day we were supposed to go to Cape May, but I had to forfeit the trip in order to pay for my VitaMix. But I think it was a good deal, as I love it and have been giving it a good workout. I made a batch of pesto in it yesterday, and it only took a few minutes from start to finish. I'm eager to try some soup recipes in it, come Fall, and am intrigued that it actually 'cooks' the soup.

I'm starting my day with a visit with Mom & Dad, then coming home and will finally harvest and prepare the carrots for the freezer. I've been getting a lot of little niggles done around the house, too, and took another load of stuff over to Goodwill. I'm really enjoying my time off, but I know I'll be ready to get back to my girls and my regular routine come next week.

Good morning all!

Ruth - Maybe you could accidently forget your new aide on those bad-sermon days?? LOL!

Cyndi - I saw your post on FB, but didn't click on the link as to any clues why. I'm sorry for you and your community, that has to be shocking.

Lexiss - safe travels!

Speaking of travels, we're considering going to Grand Canyon and everything near it for vacation (instead of Disney....don't tell the kids!). Anyone have a recommendation where to stay? The park cabins are already booked, we're looking into vacation rentals.

Today should be the day we close on the house! WHOOOPPPEEEEE!!

Cottage - I might have to start looking into this VitaMix thingee everyone is talking about!

Have a good trip, Deb, and God Speed!

Cyndi, I hope your day goes well after your awful night. My thoughts and prayers go out for Julie, too. I saw the article about the shooting that you posted on FB, and it's such a senseless tragedy.

ETA -

Twynn, I'm envious! I've always wanted to go to the Grand Canyon!

Jenn - Congrats!

Ruth - It's nice to be happy for rain when it comes

Debbie - Have a great trip.

Cyndi -

Linda - Glad both that you are enjoying your time but that you will be ready for it to be over.

Twynn - I've heard good things about vrbo.com. We stayed at the park cabins 3 years ago so can't help with other ideas. Loved the Grand Canyon!

Nothing exciting here today... more odds and ends getting ready for the college adventure. My house is a mess with dorm room stuff all over the place! DS1 comes home late tomorrow night so I think I'll go stock up on some of his favorite foods. All food porn! No baking cookies before he arrives this time; I'm not up for that temptation. Maybe before he heads back in a couple of weeks.

Good morning ladies! I am about to get ready and we are heading out for the state fair. Should be a fun morning. Not before I as make my green monster though! We went back to the casino yesterday and I didn't have much luck. I was hoping it would pay for the iPad I gifted myself! Oh well.

I was also hoping to get a vitamin until I learned how much they cost! You will have to share how much you enjoy it! I am still thinking about it but maybe when I have more room in the kitchen.

I have also booked through vrbo.com and had good luck. Vacationrentals.com as well...
Tonight we are going to cafe manna it looks delish. My great aunt is joining us and I told her it was a vegetarian restaurant she said do they have food the rest of us can eat? Lol... I said you can eat vegetarian! One night wont hurt ya...lol hopefully everyone ends up really enjoying it :0)
