Need your Prayers and Support - 3 Fat Chicks on a Diet Weight Loss Community

I tend to do more lurking these days than posting on here but feel like I know all of you. We could really use your prayers right now.

Two of our dear friends were killed in a house fire yesterday. My hubby and I are both really struggling with this. I know God has told us all will be revealed for what we don’t understand now but, it is really hard to understand why he would take such good people in such a horrible way so early in their lives.

I discovered this spring that I truly am an emotional eater and have been working hard at not eating my emotions since then. Have had some serious issues to deal with and have “won” the battle until this. Hubby isn’t much of an emotional eater but we both went home last night and ate a full bag of animal cracker cookies together.

I’m not feeling guilty about it and don’t have the urge to eat anything today that I shouldn’t. In the past I would have been doing both. So, I guess ultimately I have changed my emotional eating somewhat since I didn’t just gorge myself with bad things yesterday and I’m not wanting to gorge more today.

Sheba, I'm so sorry. That's absolutely awful, and it's certainly understandable to feel your faith shaken by something like this. Hope you and DH are able to find some peace.

As for the emotional eating, I can so relate. But perhaps the best way to honor your friends and their early loss of life is to ensure your own health and do all you can to help yourself live a long, healthy life. Does that make sense?

What one of the fantastic maintainers told me once may help you too. She was upset about something and wanted to eat, but she thought, "Right now, I'm sad. If I eat _____, I'll just be pudgy and sad." Overeating just adds guilt (and other things) to the pile of things we're struggling to carry.

How very sad. Yes, it will all make sense one day. For now it sure doesn't, and it just seems so unfair. I'm so sorry.

Oh, I am so sorry.

I thought about what you wrote about God revealing to us later what we don't understand now. That was personally very comforting to me. Do you know what scripture from the Bible that is from? I would like to read more of it.
