how many stayed on p1 longer than 2 weeks?

I suppose I don't have an excessive amount of weight to lose- though its a lot to me (60 pounds) and I was thinking of staying on p1 longer (though gave out to mexican food after 1st 24hrs (kids). Anyone atay on p1 longer?

I have the same question! I want to stay on it longer if I can.

BTW I would post this in the general SB thread because this is a hard place to reach the veterans.

I moved the thread. Actually, we should close the Frequently Asked Section so it's just for reference.

It is not a good idea to stay on Phase I too long. It is mainly designed to get rid of the cravings. Dr A does mention that it's OK to stay on longer if you have a lot to lose. IMHO you need to move on to a more normal diet to ensure you are taking in a good balance of nutrients.

I hope this helps.

I stayed on P1 for exactly 2 weeks. I made myself a 6 mo commitment to eat OP with SBD, and I felt that included reintroducing P2 foods. In retrospect, I am very glad I only did 2 weeks. For me, it's very easy to stay OP with the varied foods of P2 and I rarely eat anything off plan. I lost weight very rapidly in P2 for quite along time before the losses slowed. Even so, I'm really happy on SBD because I feel so good.

Someone like me (see weight) could stay longer BUT I need to move on for my ultimate well-being.

Obsessed, I agree with you. After doing a clean P1, it's not how I want to eat. I'd much rather just stay OP comfortably, not cheat and lose the way my body wants to. Looking back, it's been such an easy 8 months. The only hard part was the first 2 weeks. I actually feel kind of normal these days.

I only did 2 weeks on Phase 1. It is just intended for detox. It's really important to start developing a healthy eating plan you can live with. Trust me weight loss absolutely will continue if you stick to the fundamentals on Phase 2!

I did 3 weeks of Phase 1.
I was feeling good, not missing the things I wasn't eating and my life was incredibly busy the week that would have been my first week of Phase 2. It was easiest for me to just keep doing what I was doing for one more week and then read up and plan for the switch to phase 2 the next weekend when life slowed down.

For me it worked out great.

I only stay on PH1 for the 2 weeks, but no cheating in there. I think if you cheat you might stay longer to get over cravings. This is my third time but my transition to PH2 has always worked fine for me... it is PH 3 that I can't handle:(

I have only added one serving of fruit and late in the day so far this week. I am still losing, but very slowly, but that is to be expected for me.

If your intention in a longer PH1 is too lose more weight quickly, that may backfire - experts say that your body often responds to a diet by thinking it is going to be starved and your metabolism actually lowers, making it harder to lose or even easier to gain when you add more food.

Here is a thread on transitioning: http://www.3fatchicks.com/forum/sbd-...phase-2-a.html

Me too...very clean ph1, then very clean phase 2 for a long time before adding an occasional cheat. Just long enough to gain control, but not long enough to not want to add other healthy items.

Hello Nurse 01-16-2010 08:43 PM

I just finished phase 1 and I am now starting a modified phase 1 (phase 1.5?) where I add back in fruits only. I may have an occasional P2 allowed food, but for me p1 was painless and I feel better than I have in years. I am not really missing the breads and other stuff, so with my doctor's blessing I am going to stay off them for another 2 weeks then re-evaluate.

That said, I have 100+ to lose, and I am not struggling. If I had less to lose, or I was struggling to get through p1 without cheating, I would transition gracefully to p2.

This is interesting to me. My doctor actually recommended I say on phase 1 for 6 weeks. I'm only on day 1 of phase 1 so I'm trying not to think about that right now. His focus seems to be getting a lot off fairly quickly, but my focus is having it be sustainable. I guess I'll re evaluate after the first 2 weeks.
