  • I got the whole house to myself pretty much. Today is the last day of P1 for me, so maybe that's why I'm writing this so early in the morning. I plan to make scrambled eggs at 7am. I'm going shopping on Monday and I'll be interested to see whether or not, I can fit a 24 comfortably! How does the day look for you lazy men and women who will respond to this post at 10am, lol, j/k, much love.
  • Good Morning

Hi FO, you certainly suprised me when I logged on this morning. Thanks for getting us started this morning. I'm wondering if you're a night owl or an early riser. I was so pleased to read that you're completing a successful P1. on those pants. It sounds like you are really planning this time around, which is really a recipe for success. This last time around has been different for me and it sounds like that for you, too. Have a "sizzling" day.

I'm going to take this Saturday as it comes, except that I'm going up the street later to help package emergency kits for earthquake victims. I had been feeling that I wanted to do more than just send cash. These kits are sent to UMCOR and contain basic hygiene stuff in individual packets. Other that that, bike ride, knitting, and eating OP.

Warm beverages seem to be in order this morning, at least here. Cheers to the weekend!
  • Good morning early risers It's just a quick stop in for me. We are off to Plum Island for the day Hope there are some interesting birds though I'm sure we will enjoy the sunshine and walking anyway.

Foodobsessed: Congratulations on almost completing Phase 1! Good luck with those pants. I found the sizes dropped pretty quickly at the higher end but I'm sure it depends on your body shape and how you lose. I always knew which brands ran a little bigger too I survived on thrift stores and Label Shopper because I had a hard time resisting a couple of pairs in a smaller size when I needed them. Happy shopping!

Debbie - Sounds like a filled but not hectic day. Enjoy

Time to get ready to hit the road. Have a good day everyone

ETA - it never gets an easier. After a nice whoosh last week nadda this week even though I've been POP. grrrrr
  • Hey ladies! I woke up this morning feeling off kilter. Even though its warmer here, the heat has been pouring up all night and though we had the window open and a fan going, I woke up with a sinus headache. Plus I've been backed up for two days now AND I don't think I ate enough dinner last night. Just ate a cheese stick and having some coffee, and coloring my hair before we go away around 9am.

Last night I 'cheated' and had some wine. I made sure I ate protein first (had a cup of lentil soup) and then munched on some pork rinds while I drank it. The wine did not make me crave and I'm sure it's because I ate first and during. I remember before South Beach I'd get home from work on a Friday and have wine and baked Ruffles and be able to stop with neither. Clearly they fed off each other!!

I don't know how much I'll be able to post while we are away, so I wanted to wish everyone a fantastic weekend. I'm committed to staying OP except for a couple of glasses of wine with dinner and I'm confident I can do this. When I get home, I'll start Phase 1.5 on Tuesday.

Hope everyone has fun! Take care, I'll miss you.
  • Good morning!

Thanks for starting today's thread for us, FoodObsessed. We usually like to combine the weekend thread into one, but that's OK. Congratulations on a successful Phase 1, and I hope you are pleased with the results!

Debbie, That's a wonderful way to help the earthquake victims. It's so gratifying to see such an output of people coming together to help the people of Haiti.

Cyndi, have a great day at the seashore! I'm glad it's going to be sunny!

Mmc, I hope you start feeling better as the day unfolds. Hot, stuffy rooms will always do that to me, too. You mentioned that you were eating pork rinds, and I'm sorry to have to tell you that they are a no-no on SBD. They are all pork fat, plus deep fried. Have a great trip and I can't wait to hear all about it on Monday!

I think we're just going to stay home all day today. Jake's back is acting up and it's best to just have him take it easy. It's supposed to be sunny and we may reach 50*, so I may sit out on the patio in the sunshine this afternoon.
  • Good morning! Good title, FoodObsessed, because we are finally above freezing here. It's a real heat wave! It's going way up to 41ºF on Friday. Today I may see the wood on the deck where the dogs go in and out.

Debbie, good work on packing things to send to Haiti. It's hard to know what to do to help aside from sending money and will be nice to do something hands on.

Cyndi, I hope you have a wonderful trip and see many "firsts". I thought of you yesterday when I spotted a flock of about 30 wild turkeys at the side of the road. They were very brave and considered walking across until I honked.

Mmck, I hope your day improves and the lentil soup does its job. Your trip sounds wonderful and will be a good break for you all. Enjoy and see you next week.

A few niggles on the list today but I do plan to see my sister and BIL. They are up at the Farm for skiing this weekend which may not happen because the snow is very wet and sticky from the mild spell. I've not seen her since before Christmas so it'll be nice to catch up.

Coffee is calling my name. Have a good Saturday.

Cottage, 50º is really impressive. My deck is loaded with snow but I may shovel it off a bit in hopes that I can sit out for coffee soon. It's way too early for a spring thaw but still feels good. A gentle hug to Jake - I guess the exercise bike is still downstairs.
  • Ruth, Jake said "thanks" for the hug, and promises you a bear hug when he sees you again. Yep, the bike is still downstairs. He wants it to stay there and said I can watch the TV down there while I'm working out. I guess he has a point, and at least it's not in the way, down there. Telll Joan I said "hi!"
  • I know pork rinds are a cheat. Not deluding myself there!
  • Hi Cottage, sorry to hear Jakes back is acting up. I hope a quiet day at home helps calm it down. Your weather sounds great! Enjoy it while it lasts. I think it also means good weather for our travellers, Heidi, Cyndi, Mmc and Jenn. I wished them safe travels yesterday, since I didn't know if we'd connect this AM. I've been putzing in my office and I think I hear the troops stirring. We'll be in high gear soon, I think. I'm really glad when our chickies like MMC and FO jump in and start the daily, since it has been such an integral part of my sticking with SBD. Any way a mod could just tack "Sunday " on, then we'd be all set.

MMC, I have a lingering bad habit that I'm working on, but I'll leave that for the OP thread.

ETA-Hi Ruth. I thought of you when I opened my back door this AM, but it was garden porn. I know we're not discussing this for awhile. I've always wanted to ask when the Loons return? When I started visiting last May you were always out on the deck listening. Their call is one of my fond memories of Alaska. Enjoy your coffee, quiet day and visiting with the family.

I have a fresh pot of coffee, think I'll head outside with the doggies
  • Debbie, the loons come back towards the end of April or early May - after the robins but before the hummingbirds.

MMCK, I spotted pork rinds too. I know you knew it was a cheat. They sure are yummy! I often think of going to Atkins just for them.

Cottage, Jake does have a point. If the bike were upstairs, he'd be griping about it being in the way.
  • Good morning chicks

FoodO - Good luck shopping. I am almost 3 weeks in and haven't dared try on fitted pants yet.

Debbie - Thinking about Haiti sure puts our own woes in perspective. Cudos to you for helping out. Are you biking in snow?

Cyndi - Have a Tweet day.

Mmc - Have a great trip!

    Cottage - sunshine sounds nice.

Ruth - was rdw's definition of niggles correct (see Thursday). Have a nice visit.

Tonight is my first restaurant visit this time around on SB. I will report what I eat tomorrow... so that I am less motivated to cheat tonight I am curious to see which pair of jeans will fit me - like many of you, I have them in a large range of sizes. Fingers crossed I am not in the biggest anymore.

    Happy weekend all who follow
  • Karen, the definition of "niggles" was dead on. In my house niggles start with things like "I must remember to ....." take a new lightbulb upstairs for the bathroom light and throw out that empty peanut butter jar and are repeated several times. I spend more time thinking about them than actually doing them. It's sort of self-nagging.
  • Good morning from Massachusetts!

Things are good here at my folks' house this morning. I just dropped my DH off at the train station (he's headed to Boston to visit his sister for the weekend). My Dad is feeling really good today so I think we may make a quick trip to Nashua so he can walk the mall a little bit. He's a real 'people watcher' but hasn't felt much like going out lately.

I've only got a minute, I should be doing the breakfast dishes. Have a great Saturday friends - enjoy your warmer weather, your travels or just resting at home today!
  • Good morning chicks!

Food Obsessed - thanks for starting us off! Hope to hear some good news on the smaller pants!

Lexiss - great idea on the Haiti thing. I would have to thoroughly check places before giving cash...there's so many 'bad' hands. It's a shame, because Americans are so generous.

Cyndi - hope you're enjoying Plum Island today. Do we get to see pics?

MMCK - LOL...I'm trying to imagine the taste of pork rinds with wine? I've had some interesting combinations myself! Hope you're feeling better.

Cottage - isn't this weather cruel? Makes it feel like spring! Hope Jake gets to feeling better.

Ruth - Enjoy the visit with family! (I would love to post an off topic thing about family one day...aren't they a weird bunch?)

Waisting - good luck with the restaurant tonight! I find nicer restaurants are much easier to go to then the cheapo ones. Texas Roadhouse is my favorite chain restaurant...hmmm....gives me an idea....

Heidi - My daddy was SUCH a people watcher when I was little!! Have some very fond memories there. Enjoy!

Me - Getting a cup of coffee while checking in with you ladies...then off to stock the cabinets! I'm stunned by how nicely everything is coming together....I love it!! I'm looking forward to making supper too, it's getting old trying to figure outwhat to eat every night. I think the only reason I haven't gained is my running...which I did a 5 miler outside yesterday! It felt great to be out, and I thought I did pretty well for not being outside (with hills and wind and snow!) for a couple months.

    Have a great weekend!!
  • morning ladies...i feel like i have been sleeping in after reading all the posting you've been doing. just chiming in since i'm finally getting my butt back on sb. so had a healthy breakfast and cup of joe and off to get groceries before long.
