It took me quite a while to get away from "guilt" when I ate something that wasn't all that healthy after starting SB. Then I came to realize that I wasn't going to blow up like a balloon if I occsionally ate something was a no-no. There are NO no-nos that are going to put weight on you if you have a bite, although they make may you physically feel yucky! On a daily basis I eat healthy stuff, but every now and then I indulge in something that the SB police would cringe at. An occasional brownie if I make them for the family, a special dessert at a dinner party or during the holidays..

This is not a "diet" where you are going to lose weight and go back to eating junk every day. It's a life long way to eat that will ensure you are healthier and live longer.
Cat I like the advice here. This is somehting I need to remember!!!!

Thanks

This is my second week on phase 1. I cheated - ALOT. (Reeses Peanut Butter Cups. When I'm tired and blah, I want'em. BAD And I gave in and had them - a single big cup Thursday afternoon and a kingsize 4 cups last night. AND - a bbq sandwich. AND. ... as if that wasn't bad enough -- Fries. I did the same thing last week. I am down 6 pounds since starting and it's all right in my belly. I woke up this morning back on plan though and I'm planning out my grocery list again. I'm going to do phase 1 once more, because obviously, I don't have the sugar thing under control. This week, I will get it though

ohmai!- Good girl! I am back on plan too. And I am restarting the two weeks or at least adding a few days. It is really hard. I totally get it. 6lbs is fantastic!! I def need to get my sugar intake under control. Growing up my nick name was "the sugar queen". BAD!! I went to the store and restocked. I am glad you are doing the same. I also got my book!!

ohmai- I'd count last week as a trial run and start 2 clean weeks today. Glad to hear you're planning ahead and jumping on plan. Good luck

Ohmai,
Don't feel bad I started my 'trial' run right after Christmas and I did well until New Year's day when we had a family gathering and I caved with all the desserts that were there. I just started back on Phase I and added an extra week. It has helped me with cravings a lot! I have turned down carrot cake, another dessert at my Mother in Laws all today. It seems to get easier and I feel so much better. Hang in there and I think you will see your cravings subside!

I think in general, taking the guilt out of food, makes food much easier to control (at least in my experience).

When I felt guilty for eating something, it always made me feel like "I've already been bad, I might as well really be rotten for the rest of the day and start fresh tomorrow, trying to be good, again."

I don't see off-plan choices like that anymore. It's just a glitch, not a derailment.

Honestly, I'd just add a few extra days to the end and not start over entirely (erasing the 5 days). Having 5 days under your belt and knowing you are prone to cheat (what lead you to it? were you bored with your meals?), why prolong something that you aren't comfortable with? Hop on the scale, see what damage was done, drinks tons of water for the next two days and continue on Phase 1. Your cravings should subside.

Next time, empty out the burrito and skip the tortilla! I am trying to make the best choices with what I have. I too need to let go of the guilt I feel and just make sure that one bite or one meal choice doesn't lead me down a path to bad habits and excuses.

I have to remember it's a lifestyle change and keep to the lifestyle. That's what makes sense for me anyway. I don't condone "cheating" in Ph1 but sh!t happens, lol.
