As Murph stated, SBD is really about getting away from processed foods. Though there are South Beach-oriented products, as you've noticed, but they aren't really compatible with the diet as it's described in the books. Each person has to decide for herself how they may or may not fit into her life. But, overall, you want to focus on fresh, unprocessed ingredients.
