AGE: 31
BIRTHDAY: Oct 17
MARITAL STATUS: Married (DW, btw)
Children/ages: none aside from furbabies
TOP WEIGHT: 251+ (scale didn't go higher)
CURRENT WEIGHT: 230
GOAL WEIGHT: 189
HEIGHT: 5' 8"
EYE COLOR: Blue
HAIR COLOR: Blonde
HOBBIES/INTERESTS: Online reality games, shopping, dancing, spending time with friends, cooking.
PETS: 3 cats: JoJo (7 this year), Aimee (4 this year) and Chloe (1 this year)
OCCUPATION: Political Guru
GEOGRAPHIC LOCATION: Washington DC Metro Area
FAVORITE COLOR: pink or blue
FAVORITE FOODS: I am not picky, hence how I got this way!
FAVORITE EXERCISE: Eating
FAVORITE BOOK(S): That's like asking someone to pick their favorite child!
FAVORITE MOVIE(S): Now & Then, Shawshank Redemption, Miss Congeniality, Love Actually
FAVORITE MUSIC: 80s, Top 40
PROBLEM IN WEIGHT LOSS: I hate to exercise. And I love potato chips. So, you tell me! I also eat emotionally - -you know, when sad, happy, bored...
WHAT IS DIFFERENT THIS TIME THAT WILL MAKE YOU SUCCESSFUL: I want it and I am ready. It's like when I quit smoking 7 years ago. It won't be successful unless you really want it and are really ready. I've already given up "cheating" 4 times in the 2 weeks I've been back on program. I am making conscientious decisions NOT to eat badly. I am not on a diet, I am choosing to eat well.

HAIR COLOR: Dark Brown
HOBBIES/INTERESTS: Reading, traveling, cooking, music, hanging out with friends, working out, shopping (of course!)
PETS: 9 fish
OCCUPATION: Computer Support Manager
GEOGRAPHIC LOCATION: Atlanta, GA
FAVORITE COLOR: Blue, Purple, Black
FAVORITE FOODS: Chocolate, steak, burgers, laughing cow cheese, birthday cake, mexican, buffalo wings, seafood
FAVORITE EXERCISE: The crosstrainer
FAVORITE BOOK(S): I like trashy books, Eric Jerome Dickey is my favorite author. I also read Jen Lancaster, Jennifer Weiner, and Laurie Notaro.
FAVORITE MOVIE(S): I'm a comedy girl (potty/childish humor like American Pie, Stepbrothers, etc.), but I'm also a closet nerd, so I love science fiction.
FAVORITE MUSIC: Old school R & B/Rap, Chillout/Lounge, House, Jazz, pop, and some rock
PROBLEM IN WEIGHT LOSS: Staying motivated when I hit a plateau. I also have insulin resistance, but I know now what foods to avoid (hence South Beach diet)...
WHAT IS DIFFERENT THIS TIME THAT WILL MAKE YOU SUCCESSFUL: Now that I know that my body reacts differently to certain foods (refined carbs, etc.), I know that I should limit those foods and really try not to eat them at all. One of my best friends had MUCH SUCCESS with South Beach, so I'm hoping to gain a little bit of her motivation and strength...

FAVORITE MUSIC: i love all types of music except hard-screaming-rock.... i love rap, hip-hop, r&b, classic rock, country, oldies...

TOP WEIGHT: 196
CURRENT WEIGHT: approx 170
GOAL WEIGHT: 140, for now
HEIGHT: 5' 3.5"
EYE COLOR: Blue
HAIR COLOR: Brown
HOBBIES/INTERESTS: The internet, watching hockey, hanging out with friends, drinking
PETS: currently, none.
OCCUPATION: Financial Analyst
GEOGRAPHIC LOCATION: Ottawa, ON
FAVORITE COLOR: Black, grey, pink
FAVORITE FOODS: Lately, I have been a huge fan of frozen pizza. Generally, love my Mexican food and sweets.
FAVORITE EXERCISE: None regularly YET, but I used to love the WATP videos, and planning to get back there as soon as Amazon.ca delivers!
FAVORITE BOOK(S): Harry Potter, Chick Lit, silly magazines, and anything that I get recommendations on!
FAVORITE MOVIE(S): Reality Bites, Die Hard, Billy Madison...all over the place
FAVORITE MUSIC: Very few limitations, pretty open...
PROBLEM IN WEIGHT LOSS: Becoming complacent. When I pay attention to what I put into my system, I hope I can do well again. I lost 50lbs on SBD in 2006, and after 9 months I stopped paying attention. I kept a few fundamentals, but in 2+ years, I have put back on another 25lbs.
WHAT IS DIFFERENT THIS TIME THAT WILL MAKE YOU SUCCESSFUL: I want to continue to fit into the clothes that I bought on my first major SBD success...if I have to buy new threads, I need them to be smaller (not bigger), because I threw out the "fat" ones. Also, there is a history of diabetes in my family, and at 27 years old, that is something I would definitely like to steer clear of - hence, SBD.

GEOGRAPHIC LOCATION: Jacksonville NC
FAVORITE COLOR: Blue and green
FAVORITE FOODS: Pizza, chicken, chocolate
FAVORITE EXERCISE: Walking...but we recently got Wii Fit so I'm stuck on that now LOL
FAVORITE BOOK(S): Up until recently I was reading mainly textbooks because it was all I had time for. I'm pretty open when it comes to books though.
FAVORITE MOVIE(S): I have way too many to name.
FAVORITE MUSIC: A little of everything except country and rap.
PROBLEM IN WEIGHT LOSS: Well, I think I may have PCOS due to some other issues I've been having. Which also causes issues with losing weight. My motivation was an issue for a while too.
WHAT IS DIFFERENT THIS TIME THAT WILL MAKE YOU SUCCESSFUL: I know it will be different because I did it before. Also, this time I have the support of a wonderful man who loves me and a family who cares about me.

CURRENT WEIGHT: 265.8
GOAL WEIGHT: 150
HEIGHT: 5' 6" (and three quarters!)
EYE COLOR: Brown
HAIR COLOR: Auburn
HOBBIES/INTERESTS: Music, Movies, Arts & Crafts, anything "Goth" (except that vampire crap) , the Colorado outdoors (hiking, etc.), swimming, and getting healthy!
PETS: None yet, but we'll probably get a cat or two soon
OCCUPATION: Legal Assistant
GEOGRAPHIC LOCATION: Denver, CO
FAVORITE COLOR: Black
FAVORITE FOODS: Carbs Cheese, all Fruits, Broccoli, anything Soy, Coffee
FAVORITE EXERCISE: Leslie Sansone's "Walk Away the Pounds"/"Walk At Home" DVDs, and strength training
FAVORITE BOOK(S): "The Zombie Survival Guide" and "World War Z" by Max Brooks (Mel's son!), and ANY of the Tudor bios by Allison Weir
FAVORITE MOVIE(S): Anything silly, really: Blazing Saddles, Young Frankenstein, The Producers (original), other Mel Brooks etc., Anchorman, Blades of Glory, Talladega Nights....too many to list, but I like to laugh!
FAVORITE MUSIC: 80s, 90s, and 2000s "Alternative" (The Cure, NIN, Tori Amos, Tool/APC, Joy Division/New Order, Garbage, My Chemical Romance, etc., but I also like some "classic" rock (Simon & Garfunkel, Mamas & Papas, etc.), some "pop/boy band" music (Fallout Boy, N'Sync, etc.), and too much other stuff to list
PROBLEM IN WEIGHT LOSS: I am a "new" diabetic and recovering emotional eater. Other than that, I actually lose weight well, especially when I exercise regularly. I do get down on myself, or just get frustrated, and that leads to binges, but now with the blood sugar concerns, that is even more dangerous than it used to be, so I get sad about that too. I have no choice to sit on my @ss anymore, and that can be overwhelming sometimes.
WHAT IS DIFFERENT THIS TIME THAT WILL MAKE YOU SUCCESSFUL: Diabetes is a slow but determined ruiner of lives and slow killer. No ifs, ands, or buts about it. Even w/sugars under good control, over the long term, there can and usually will be complications (eyes, kidneys, etc.) I refuse to become a victim because I chose not to improve my health. I am also desperate to become a mother, which weight and diabetes are not compatible with, and frightened that my husband will follow on my health path (he's 25 and overweight, so I fear that once he hits my age, his health will turn too--also has diabetes in his family). I am READY!

FAVORITE FOODS: Pizza, Ice cream, chocolate, chips with dip
FAVORITE EXERCISE: Walking
FAVORITE BOOK(S): Loved the Twilight Series and Jen Lancaster books most recently
FAVORITE MOVIE(S): Enjoyed Bucketlist recently.
FAVORITE MUSIC: I listen to a lot of different stuff, but mostly alternative and pop.
PROBLEM IN WEIGHT LOSS: I was very thin when I was younger and have gradually gained over the years. I manage to lose a few pounds with effort. The most was maybe 30 pounds. I've done the best with weightwatchers before, but would like to try something new. I've struggled making it past phase 1 and avoiding the social eating/drinking moments.
WHAT IS DIFFERENT THIS TIME THAT WILL MAKE YOU SUCCESSFUL: I'm heavier than I've ever been and it's making an impact on my overall health. My cholesterol is high. I find it more difficult to move/climb stairs, etc. Will need to buy new bigger clothes if I don't lose when I have a closet full of great clothes in smaller sizes. Plus, I turn 40 in September. I will get this under control before my 40th birthday!

User name/name: 262mom2three
AGE: 36
BIRTHDAY: July
MARITAL STATUS: Married to an awesome guy for 10 yrs (who also went on SBD to support me!)
Children/ages: almost 6, almost 4, almost 1.5
TOP WEIGHT: 215 (not pregnant)
CURRENT WEIGHT: 198 (!!) ~ lost 12# in ph1
GOAL WEIGHT: mini/mid goal ~ 164 (prev lowest wt as a mom); end goal ~ 140 (I could go lower but would be soooo happy at 140!)
HEIGHT: 5' 6"
HOBBIES/INTERESTS: Haven't a clue...lost myself once I became a mom to ACTIVE kids. Once upon a time, I used to love to read and watch old movies.
PETS: a 14yo PITA siamese (w/supposedly 14 more years to go). My DD wants a horse or puppy when we "throw our cat up into the clouds".
OCCUPATION: SAHM
GEOGRAPHIC LOCATION: Great White North
FAVORITE FOODS: Anything Greek, Thai or Chocolate!! Ohhh...how I miss Cheesecake Factory
FAVORITE EXERCISE: Once upon a time, I used to do IMX Pilates at my Y and LOVED it!! Saw AMAZING results in the abs, thighs, and gluts. I miss it! Now I will settle for the "good" ellipticals or the Cybex ArcTrainers at the gym.
PROBLEM IN WEIGHT LOSS: Lose interest. Betw DC# 1-2, I lost 40# with calorie counting and religious trips to the Y. LOVED it! I moved away and lost my support network; never got the groove back. Betw DC #2-3, I ran a marathon (hence the 26.2 in my ID), was never a runner, in the hopes of finding the groove. Never found it and for the most part, I really disliked my training...pretty solo despite DH running the marathon with me. Lost 5# max during the training despite burning over 1600 cal in some workouts.
WHAT IS DIFFERENT THIS TIME THAT WILL MAKE YOU SUCCESSFUL:
I found SBD and it was surprisingly easy to get through Ph1. Unfortunately, I strayed during the holidays and my body re-discovered chocolate, etc. During the "stray" period, I was noticably irritable (PMS came back in FULL FORCE plus some!) and my energy nose-dived. I am back on SBD and do not want to experience those symptoms again!! I have a great support system at the gym and my daily routine has room for the gym.
I am focusing on my working out as being my "job" ~ I cannot skip "just b/c I do not feel like it" b/c it is my job! I also have a friend who is training for an Ironman ~ I am finding a lot of inspiration in just talking to her.
My goal is to run another marathon again, this year ~ I want to do this for my kids. They were so into our running and routine. My oldest is getting into the age where he can run in the 1-milers for the marathon's and local runs ~ I want to inspire him.
Lastly, I found this group!! You have all been very inspiring...and thank you so much for the recipe help!!!

FAVORITE BOOK(S): Thrillers, Fantasy, Non-Fiction
FAVORITE MOVIE(S): I don't really watch movies - just not my thing
FAVORITE MUSIC: I love 70's and 80's rock, classical, some punk and some heavy metal.
PROBLEM IN WEIGHT LOSS: I got fat and happy. when I met my husband and that was 5 years ago and it has been gradually creeping up since then! I also think some of my weight gain is hormonal - coming off the pill a few years ago and I piled on the weight - haven't really been motivated to lose it until now. I definitely cannot go back to ballet at the moment - leotards and pink tights - I would scare everyone else away!
WHAT IS DIFFERENT THIS TIME THAT WILL MAKE YOU SUCCESSFUL: I want to be able to wear my ballet clothes and take class without looking like a dancing hippo! This is my first serious attempt at losing weight - 1st time I have ever had too! So it is South Beach for life for me!

PROBLEM IN WEIGHT LOSS: I've had a problem with my weight since birth i think... was always the chubby one.. wasn't truly overweight though until i hit puberty, which makes sense now that i know i've got PCOS... which i wasn't diagnosed with until i was 30 and trying to get pg... end of last year i was diagnosed with Diabetes which was no surprise due to family history, PCOS, and the gd i had during pg, in addition to the difficulties of losing weight with PCOS i'm an emotional eater... stressed, depressed, happy... any emotion makes me want to eat for the most part
WHAT IS DIFFERENT THIS TIME THAT WILL MAKE YOU SUCCESSFUL: My mom passed away last year at age 57 of breast cancer... it's really made me think about my health and the fact that I want to be around for my family as long as possible and to do that I need to take charge of the things i can change to make my life healthier. I feel more committed than I ever did in the past when attempting to diet.. I'm truly not looking at this as a Diet but as a change in my lifestyle.

FAVORITE MUSIC: Currently I'm way into country. I love Sugar Land, Lady Antebellum, Carrie Underwood
PROBLEM IN WEIGHT LOSS: It's a constant struggle. I have lived up and down the scale my entire life. I don't plan and I don't exercise. When I skip those things the scale jumps up and up and up. I really love food, and I find comfort in it. It's what makes it so difficult for me to give it up. But I know I have to find better substitutes for it.
WHAT IS DIFFERENT THIS TIME THAT WILL MAKE YOU SUCCESSFUL: My DH and I are desperately trying to conceive a child. I know that I not only need to continue to lose weight in order to have a healthy pregnancy, but I need to stay at a healthy weight for my child. Getting pregnant is my primary objective, ere go, losing weight is a necessity.
