Default Ugh!

Hi! I'm a newbie on Phase I day 3. I'm about ready to dive face first into a giant bowl of brownies (I'm not even a big fan of them!). The only diet I've ever been on was Gods Diet - I lost 20lbs. Im thinking it's the not being able to eat fruit that kills me, I miss my cantaloupe and apples so much!

Anyone have problems with hunger? Last night was the worst, I ate some string cheese, a FF hot dog, celery, and a bottle of H20 and was still hungry! Think it's my body rebelling? I can hear my gut saying "GIVE ME CARBS! GIVE ME CARBS!" Wish me luck! This is going to be interesting...lol!

Day 3 (yesterday) was pretty tough for me as well. I was absolutely starving all day. I know I ate enough, and I had all my snacks, beans, and dairy servings, yet I was so hungry I felt sick between meals. hopefully today will be easier. whatever doesn't kill you makes you stronger, right?

Barista, - you sure are going to be strong! Have you checked calories on Fitday?

Shaljg, are you making sure you have legumes and dairy? That should help with the carb cravings.

Today is my first day on SB. I am sticking to safe foods but plan on doing some recipes soon.

I am really excited to lose the rest of my weight & get to goal.

I know the lack of fruit seems like a big deal, but it is only for two weeks! You can do it!!

You may have had problems with hunger because that wasn't very much food. I would leave water rich veggies like celery for snacks and eat fiber rich ones for meals (broccoli, zucchini, peppers, mushrooms, etc.) They add more bulk and calories to your meals helping you to fill up a bit more.

When your body is full from good food, it is easier to say no to the carb and sugar monsters.

I do feel kind of blah today. I heard that most people do on the first few days.

I may also be on the verge of getting a stomach bug.

bewitched - if it is the South Beach flu, make sure you are getting enough dairy and enough beans. It is caused by your body "detoxing" from the lack of carbohydrates. Beans contain quite a few carbs and they will definitely make you feel better.

If it is a stomach bug, feel better soon

I think it is the detoxing. I am going to have beans with dinner & some cottage cheese for a snack soon.

Default That was my snack

Oof, all of that stuff consisted of one long drawn out snack. I had eaten supper about 2 hours prior (Grilled chicken w/ mozz cheese on top, spinach, and greenbeans) Hopefully the rest of today goes better. Night time is the absolute WORST!

Thanks for the welcome! I will keep in mind to add more legumes - gotta love those chickpeas! *yum*

Hi kids!!!

I start on Sunday. I am making a menu now. I will share when done. I've done Phase 1 twice now -- first time I got to Phase 2 (1.5 months total?) and then went off track. Next time I did it, I got sick in the hospital (a year ago now). But I am cleared to eat raw veggies and will try again.

This of course is not counting the bajillion times I SAID I was coming back and didn't...

I'm into my second week and to be honest my appetite is shot. Without carbs food is just not that interesting to me. I don't get cravings in the sense that I suddenly would kill for a pastry BUT if I smell a bakery or pizza place... I drool. I don't even consider cheating but I wonder if it will always be like that.

I feel like a drug addict. Seriously. I know once I let those flood gates open... it's all over and I am DETERMINED to get down to my old size/weight.

I can't wait until I get a siggy and put my ticker on there...
