Just popping in to say I've started Phase I today.

I have been dieting for awhile and I've lost weight but it's a slow process. I've gotten excited reading about the South Beach diet and so many great results.

I'll be popping in with lots of questions, I'm sure. Thanks in advance as it appears you girls are great support.

Hi Everyone~
Well I am stalled on my weightloss... that sucks. I am wondering how that works with P2. I mean if you are supposed to add one low glycemic carb a week and notice if it stalls your weightloss... not sure how I am suppose to do that with my weight stalling out now? Anyways... enough about me.
Sounds like everyone is having great sucesses. To all who have jumped off and jumped back on WAY TO GO!!! Thats a huge success in itself! Be proud! To all who have made it through another day WAY TO GO to you too!! I'll check in again soon!

Menzy - how long have you been stalled? You will not lose as quickly as you did in Phase 1 on Phase 2...which is GOOD! Too fast of weight loss is harder to keep off and it's harder to tone your skin and muscles if you're losing too fast.

Also, how often are you weighing? I lost a lot the first few days, nothing for about week and then a bunch of pounds dropped off in two days. Our bodies are odd creatures.

I weigh every day but had nothing move in about 5 days. I actually increased a couple of pounds. I have noticed for the last couple of months when I have been trying to lose weight I would hit 198 and then go back up to up 202 and camp out their. I have a lot to lose and sometimes i get inpatient with myself. However, when I weighed in this morning I was down to 200.0 so that was cool. I also got AF yesterday night so I think that may have added on to it. I like to weigh everyday because then it give me an idea how I did that day. If I need to be watching or not. I don't take it too seriously but a week is too long. I look at my over all weightloss every week. I chart it in my bathroom. I like seeing my graph go down... and sometimes up... and back down again. It helps keep me motivated.

Menzy, I weigh daily too - always have and always will!

Didn't get too much done this afternoon because I succumbed to a nap. It felt great! Other stuff can wait until tomorrow.

Now to update the Sept. weightloss and October target threads and then dinner!

Question: Is the FF SF smucker jam and smucker hot fudge topping acceptable in phase 1?

Ugh.. feeling really tired and lazy tonight... dun wanna cook. Had a long day at work, and now I have a house full of people wanting to be entertained, when all *I* want to to eat something warm that i don't have to cook and sleep.

The SB Dining Out book... I remember looking at the in the library.. didn't it say chinese food meat and veggie thingies (sans rice) are ok for phase one?

Also, I know Jello is ok, but what about the SF Jello puddings?

SF pudding is OK for Phase II. Some sauces on Chinese food contain sugar or too much oil. You could try to scrape it off. I've done this.

Hi everyone May I still join you here for phase1? I am awfully late and not sure how this thread runs in as far as starting date. Today is day 1 for me.

I am not new to the website but I am new to the South Beach Diet. This place here and the wonderful people and support had helped me tremendously and it's something I miss very much. Been missing from here for a looong time, this past year was was a rough one! I had let everything fall by the wayside and have been struggling for quite some time to get back to the program.

I typically do my own healthy eating regiment but right now I feel it's best for me to follow a regimented plan and one which suits my tastes, etc. I craveeee carbs and they are trigger foods for me. I went on an all out carb binge past few weeks so starting this plan is absolutely perfect for me right now!

I read the faq's, scoured the SBD section here and also did a little research online. I have yet to find my blasted book! lol.

I had a pretty good first day. Some turkey breast, 2 oz. lean beef, and salad. Did my grocery shopping today so I am ready with my meal plans and will incorporate all of my alotted veggies tomorrow (which I didn't do today).

I look forward to getting to know you all. Wish me luck ladies, this is something I really need all the way around. I am determinded, one day at a time!

I will be posting daily when possible, happy friday to you all and much success!

welcome- we are all in this together :-) I'm only on P1 day3 (tried sb once before). I find it easier for me to make my breakfasts, cut veggies and what not ahead of time. I'll cook all my turkey links for the week and freeze them. For me, I need to have some convenience to my meals, or I will want to just grab a bagel, instant oatmeal or sandwich. I also really enjoyed some V8 this morning warmed up. I still can't believe I liked it LOL!!!! I never dared to try it before.

FSA- you definitely want to be eating more than that :-)

dasmith, ty Congrats on day 3! Actually, by the time you get this it will be day 4, lol. Tyyyyy for reminding me to do that! I'll do that too, cut some cucumber etc . and have it on hand.

I did manage to get in some more veggies but still overall didn't eat quite enough. MIracles never cease! lol I was so busy today (running a bunch of errands and getting the things I need) and it was good in the sense that keeping busy helps me stay on plan. I plan on cooking tomorrow, my meats and veggies and storing the extra's in the fridge. I really like the idea of freezing too to have the stuff readily available when you need it! It has happened to me in the past where I wasn't feeling well or for whatever reason couldn't cook....not having my planned meals or snacks would lead to big trouble.

I am very excited that I got through the first day okay. The first few days are always hardest for me. I really like veggies so i have no prob there, this is good! It's always fruit I had trouble with. I have been sipping on water all night long and I know that helps me a lot too but with that being said, it is very late here and I am going to bed in fear of getting hungry at such a late hour. Im going to bed before something bad happens, lol : )

I have to learn to snack on veggies- I was never a big veggie or fruit eater. My favs are sweet potatos, raw carrots and bananas. Which will be ok every once in a while, but definitely can't eat on phase 1.
As long as I continue planning ahead I'll be ok. And I'm learning to grab some celery sticks and natural pb or plain yogurt(with some sf jello) mixed in,nuts for quick snacks- instead of crackers or cookies. It's hard being the only one in the house on a diet sometimes, temptation is always there. But to me, it just isn't worth it anymore.
And I just have to vent, dh was such a turd yesterday. So after asking if I wanted to go to Wendys(I got a side salad w/o croutons and carrots) he then perceded to buy me a birthday donut and got mad when I said no thanks. The kids were happy that they got it though LOL. And then I cooked them supper (chicken drumsticks and tomatos) I forgot to put my chicken breast in there LOL so I had to wait. He got mad that I didn't sit down and have at least the noodles and corn. Oh boy- I hope everyday is not like that!!
I tried to explain to him that this is what I need and my body needs to suceed. He doesn't understand that I can't just eat the way I'm supposed to on my own(I wouldn't be fat if I could, now would I ??lol). Maybe when I have made a true lifestyle change, and am committed to SB for longer than 3 days, lol, I may take a bite of a donut or something. But to get frustrated at me because of it, is silly. I told him- I have 3 days in, I'm not going back. 3 days isn't much to most, and sounds a little silly, but I'm tired of starting over and over again :-)

Ok-vent over LOL Sorry all!!

Good vent, Angie! They just don't get it! As I said somewhere else in here, men are a different species. I'm glad you were so strong.
