Okay Ladies... When it comes to TOM I've been like clockwork all my life... I could set my watch by it. I started following SBD 2 months ago - and love it! However this month and last month TOM has arrived almost 2 weeks late!!!
I am wondering if this is normal - has anyone else noticed that SBD affected their body this way.
I don't know about other women, but when my weight fluctuates by more than 4-5 pounds, it throws off my cycle for that month (usually makes it at least 5 days late) - as does exercising. I don't know why that is, but it has been true my whole life.
oh yes!!! yeah everytime I diet it screws me up too, mine comes on time but it lasts forever! I'm going on a 3 week TOM right now, dh is not happy, lol I'm hoping it fixes itself soon or I don't know what I'm going to do.it's made me drop diets in the past because I couldn't stop having TOM.. but I refuse to quit on this one, my body better shape up or ship out, lol!!
so we have to lose all our fat to fix tom? lol..
thank you Nessa, that makes more sense, I've always wondered, so it's not the diet actually its our bodies getting rid of fat, so that is a good sign right?
no its normal when I'm dieting, atkins really threw it off but sbd is doing the same I guess.. it seems to be tapering off now but it's still there. I guess I have to choose weight loss or TOM or I guess in this case if I choose weight loss then I get TOM, it's a package deal, lol
At this point, how long have you been "off"? If you've missed over 2 cycles then you might want to head to the DR. but I'd wait until then. Since getting pregnant is not a concern, just relax.
It's always good to check with your gyno just in case, but you definitely are going to experience changes as your fat levels fluctuate. As Nessa explained, fat stores estrogen, so those of us who are overweight tend to have more, shall we say, unique TOMs.
Congrats, though...it probably indicates loss of fat, which is a GREAT thing!
I lost about 35# quite quickly years ago. I also stopped taking the pill about the same time. I did not have periods for about 11 months. My doctor was concerned enough that he drew a prolactin level (checking for pituitary tumor) and put me on Provera (supposed to shed the lining). It didn't work. Everything eventually got back on track. It just took it's time.
