Default I'm new, with questions!

Good morning!

I convinced myself that after vacation, I'd start SBD, and bought all the groceries....

Started Monday, lost 1.2 lb by tuesday am, and by tuesday pm, decided just couldn't do SBDphase I. Mentally...not right, head ached (eyeballs pounding), low stamina. I know a lot of people say you feel kinda yucky the first couple days, but I kept thinking if I feel that cr@ppy, my body is trying to tell me something! So, I ate some strawberries . Still lost another .6 lb by today. Has this happened to anyone else? I figured that Phase II is still pretty good guidelines for a diet, and I don't need to lose too much weight. Oh, and yes, I feel much better.

Also, I LOVE the thomas' english muffins 100 caloried multi grain...and they're 8 gr. of fiber!! Those should be okay for phase II? I was thinking if I had those for breakfast, I'd probably feel better most of the day, and wouldn't do many carbs after that. Anyone know?

Thanks for all the support!

TwynnB!
It's perfectly fine to start off with Phase 2, especially since you don't have much weight to lose. In fact, Dr. A. recommends that people with no more than 10 lbs. to lose should start with Phase 2.
As for the English Muffins, I couldn't find out too much nutritional information on them. But as long as the very first ingredient is "whole grain" or "whole wheat", they should be fine to enjoy.

We look forward to getting to know you, come and join us in the daily chat!

1/2 of an english muffin is usually a serving. our society as a whole tends to eat too much. a serving of grain/starch is 30g or about 1 oz.

Dr. A says that those with little to lose can start in phase 2 if the cravings are under control....

I don't believe they are 100% whole grain--there's some "enriched" flour in there, too, if memory serves. Thomas' does make a 100% whole grain English muffin, though, that's only 20 or 30 calories more, I think.

ccindy, are you following the South Beach Diet? If you are, you know fruit isn't allowed until Phase 2, and watermelon isn't allowed at all. There's an interesting discussion about it on yesterday's daily chat.

Personally I think we all have to adapt any diet to what works for us. I was doing my best on this diet when I allowed myself to have a 1 of those 100 Herseys 100 calorie chocolate bars every day. Which I'm pretty sure wouldn't be allowed since they have sugar in them.

I agree, and I've tweaked South Beach to fit me better, too. However, as has been pointed out to me before, there's nothing wrong with tweaking for yourself, but it's not really helpful to make off-plan or unallowed suggestions to others seeking advice because that tweak may not work for them. Eating a 100-calorie Hershey bar every day would throw some people into a ravenous sugar-seeking fit

*raises hand*

I would probably gnaw my arm off to be able to get some sugar if I had sugar everyday on this plan.
