Default can I forget the nuts?

Like can I just omit them completely? I can't have them in my house without eating them or thinking about eating them. They are like my binging food lol. I love nuts. any kind, almonds, cashews, peanuts, pistachios. I don't really care what kind.

My weight has gone up from 156 to 156.6 from eating them and I should be losing because I'm on phase 1.

The books says one serving a day so that kind of hints it's not something he cares us to have often anyway.

Also a serving of ricotta cheese is 1/4 cup. Any way i can measure that without a cup measuring tool? Like maybe about two spoonfuls?

oh and on the ricotta.. measure out 1/4 cup and figure out what that is in your eye....

or even better, eyeball out what YOU think is 1/4 cup (it's not much) and THEN measure it so you can learn to eyeball it.

Nuts are good for you, but of course you can get by without eating them. I love them too and overdo sometimes - I think a lot of us have these nut issues.
Just thought I'd offer a couple of ideas that (usually) work for me to be able to have them but not to excess.
I hardly ever eat nuts alone as a snack. On occasion I'll take some with me if I'll be away from home. I've got some 100 calorie snack packs that I use for that - no danger there if I've only got one. At home, I'll only eat nuts as part of something else - I like to put almonds or cashews in my stir fries, I love the pistachio, goat cheese and apricot salad, slivered almonds in my greek yogurt with agave nectar, or peanut butter on an apple, toast, or crackers.
Maybe this approach will help you with your portion control issues.

PS, I keep them in the freezer in my basement and only pull out what I need for my recipe.

Schmoodle - You're making me hungry!!!!
I like nuts as well, but part of this whole lifestyle change is to change our way of thinking when it comes what we eat and portion control. We need to re-work our brain to get us used to what a true serving is (regardless of the food). If nuts are something that trigger you to eat more, then for now, get them out of your home. But once you have figured some things out regarding control and portions, I'd suggest bringing them back in once in a while so that, when faced with a bowl of mixed nuts at a party in 2 months, you don't go hog wild. Does that make sense?

hamc: it makes complete sense. portion control especially with high fat foods are very important. Get your body used to what counts as one serving of nuts. I must say though, that as long as the nuts are in a container.. I'm ok..if they're in a bowl...I can't keep my hands out.. i make a general rule of if they're just sitting out to only take one at a time. No handfuls...
But you need to figure out what works for you. If cutting them out for a while works, do it.
