Hello, I am new here and to South Beach. I am on day 4 phase 1 and I have been feeling great. Anyway, I noticed that we are allowed beans on P1 but I don't understand why. I always thought beans were super high in carbs. I know they are good for you but why can we have them in P1 if they are so high?
South Beach is not a low carb diet, that's a myth South beach encourages you to choose healthier carbs such as vegetables and whole grains, and avoid certain types of carbs such as sugar. Beans are a good carb. You'll need to practice portion control, since they are pretty calorie dense, but you can still have them. Enjoy
