Default Monday, Monday --

Happy healthy Monday all you of the Sonoma persuasion -- another fresh week and another opportunity for healthy happy choices!

I had a not great/not terrible on super-challenging weekend (memorial service & reception for a dear friend who lost her cancer battle last week.)

I did find myself drinking too much at the reception after the service, and eating some very delicious non-Med Indian food (garlic Naan bread anyone?)

HOWEVER.....on the plus side, I did manage to stop short of binging/stuffing on the fattening stuff, and ate mostly the Sonoma-friendly offerings (chicken tikka...yum!)

As I started in with the Naan bread and curries etc. I remembered this saying I saw here at 3FC: "There's no situation so bad that overeating can't make it worse." So I did eat a little bit of if, but then stopped. Big progress for me!

Truly, is anything more counter-productive that comfort eating? It makes you feel better for five minutes and worse for five days!

Good job Kate - well done for catching yourself eating! Habits are hard to break.

I tried something different today at lunch - I ate my stir-fried veggies with grains, then had my protein (low-fat ricotta) with my strawberries for desert. Yummy. I love the variety available with Sonoma. It was quick too - as I had an appointment with my son (the one who has recently been diagnosed with Asperger's Syndrome) this afternoon.

Tonight is crock-pot organic beef (cooked with rosemary and red wine) with steamed broccoli and whole-grain rye bread. Not sure about the glass of wine since I have a school council meeting. Perhaps afterwards - since there's some left from cooking.

That's a great saying Kate. I'll have to remember that.

I'm discovering that the weather has a huge impact on my mood. I'm going to have to work on that since I obviously don't have any control over the weather.

How does the lowfat ricotta taste? I have never tried it. What do you eat with it?
