Dr. Praeger's Burgers

Does anyone know about these? Have you eaten them? Are they good? I have a Trader Joe's near me so I know I can buy them there but don't want to spend the money if they aren't good.

Dr. Praeger's California burgers are my FAVORITE of the "non-meat-like" veggie burgers (as opposed to the "meat-like" type, like Boca burgers). There are other varieties of Dr. Praeger's burgers—like the Bombay Burger —but I never tried them.

I've also tried Dr. Praeger's California Burgers (and no other variety) and they're fantastic! They have all-natural ingredients, so they're a little on the soft side when cooked, but the flavor is awesome. I totally prefer them to the other brands (Morningstar Farms & Boca).

I heard there was one with avocado. Is that the California burger? I'm going to buy some this week.

I don't know which one might have avocado in it, but it isn't the California Burger. I tried to check out Dr. Praeger's website, but it's under construction.

Here's a review from Hungry Girl's website:

Dr. Praeger's Veggie Royale California Veggie Burgers

(100 calories, 3.3g fat, 190mg sodium, 9.5g carbs, 4g fiber, 0g sugars, 8g protein)

Overall Score: 9.5

Dr. Praeger makes the most delicious and unique veggie patties on this planet (possibly in the entire galaxy, though we haven't expanded our search that far yet). You can actually identify pieces of edamame, carrots, broccoli, corn and more in every bite. It's a cornucopia of veggie delights! And his nutritionals are right on. Low calorie, no saturated fats, lots of fiber, no sugars, not a lot of carbs -- what more could you want? The only less-than-glowing thing we can say about these delightful disks is the fact that they're a little harder to find than most other veggie burgers (look for 'em at Costco and Whole Foods, or buy 'em online). Despite that, they've earned a well-deserved 9.5.

I too am a recent Dr. Praeger's fan. The one I buy has 92 calories , some fat, and 5g. fiber because of the oat. I totally consider them Core and love them. I don't bother with the instructions of baking them--takes too long.
I like to put one in a non-stick skillet and lightly brown it. Sometimes I melt some FF cheese on top, sometimes I put it on a 1point Eng. muffin that's been toasted. In any case, it truly is a veggie burger--one that tastes likes vegetables. I highly recommend!

Thanks, Judy! I bought the California ones today. I won't be able to try them until Saturday.
