Hello Everyone! Newbie here! My Mom and I will be going to register Wed, and I'm looking forward to starting something new. I've been digging the SBD, but I think I need to mix things up...been having a loss slow down.
I've done WW FlexPoints before, and hated it. I'm not cut out for the calculating at every turn. I just get frustrated and fall off the wagon. I lost some of my wt just calorie counting, but hated every second of it, and just felt like my entire life revolved around my next meal. So, I was glad to hear about Core!
Um, lessee...I also play DDR for most of my cardio..anyone else here? So much fun! I like WATP also, and I like the various aerobic breathing tapes (BodyFlex, Oxycise...).
Anyway, looking forward to getting to know everyone!
Oh! I have yet ANOTHER quick question..is there a limit to fruit servings per day? Thanks!
-Spring

Hey, Spring. Welcome to my favorite place of the world. There is no limit to fruit servings. The only thing you have to worry about is your "comfort zone", i.e. eating only until you are satisfied rather than full or stuffed. There are also the usual minimums even on Core; 2-3 dairy, five fruits and veggies, 2 healthy oils and the usual 6-8 glasses of H2O! I wasn't good at points either. I would get sloppy with weighing and measuring and journaling. I was never good at making good choices. I never wanted to spend points on fruit or milk. I would rather eat a small cheeseburger but then I was starving. Once I got detoxed from sugar, I became a Core devotee. For those things I really miss, I can still buy them with my 35 weekly points.
I'm excited for you and your Mom. Will Mom be visiting the board?
I'm strictly a treadmill girl but am looking for some other options. Everyone I know who uses tapes likes WATP. I don't know what DDR is. I'm really kind of a beginner even though I'm on the treadmill for 30 minutes daily at 2.7 MPH.

welcome a 'board' spring! you will love core and love it here.
vickie, glad i made you laugh. this is the way i figure it.......if i am out walking with my pj's on under my windsuit, and i fall and need an ambulance to get to the hospital, to wait in a really long line because the doctors here are on call and must come in from somewhere, i am already comfortable and then if i have to stay, i have my pj's already! oh, to live in the country!
beautiful out there today, son is gone on a snowmobile ride, hubby is downstairs working on his pool room and me, in my glory, surfing. although hubby did just come by to show me his work clothes, which i have to share, grey t-shirt, blue shorts with paint all over them, sport socks to his knees and then get this........yep the big turn on i told him were his slippers! haha.....he is sooooo funny, he has the floor heat turned on down there and yesterday he got quite warm, so today he is dressing for it! haha
having a cup of red african tea..........yumma

Vickie-I had the same problems with points. DDR is a video game, Dance Dance Revolution. I have DDRMax 2 for the Playstation 2. You hook this mat into the console with 4 arrows (front back left right), then you have to step on the arrows as they scroll across the screen to the music. All the music is fun club/dance stuff (Dirty Vegas, Kylie Minogue, even KC and the Sunshine Band)! I can play for hours...can't say that about any other kind of cardio! I look like an idiot, I'm sure, but so what?! LOL. It's way fun.
Frannie-Don't you just Looooove the hiked up sock look? hehehe. SO HOT! :P

Frannie, Congratulations to Kurt and the whole team. Good lookin guy and wise to boot! Don't they say Goalies are a little bit wild?!
I never heard of DDR, Spring. Course I don't have Playstation either....no kids in this house. Wonder if there is something like that you can hook up to the TV without all the Playstation stuff? I bet I'd like that....although I'm not very coordinated!

Oh No - It's Almost Monday!
HI Spring & welcome!
The playstation dance things sounds awesome? Can I ask how much this costs (I guess you have to buy the mat too?). My preferred type of exercise is anything "dancey" so this might be something I can aspire to? We have a playstation 2 so I might start looking around to see where I can pick this up? (Sounds like a good "reward" for future successes? )
Speaking of which I am VERY PROUD to report that I exercised today - yes with my new Richard Simmons "reward" video tape. Of course I was pretty lame as I need to do it a few times to get the right steps. The "cardio" portion wasn't too bad - but I was still "glowing" a bit - the worst part was the "toning"....yes I grabbed my 2 lb weights (on the video they wore these wraparound wrist weights)...and what a killer - I know I will have sore arms tomorrow!!!
Frannie - you must be so proud - and I also love that quote! So true!
Also warming up here a bit - which was a nice change. Went to the movies had some movie popcorn - but had dinner before so I was very in control!
Today made a HUGE pot of my favorite beef cabbage tomato barley soup. Was going to bring it for lunch tomorrow but remember another (birthday) lunch out - vietnamese restaurant (never been to this one)....not sure what I'll have probably one of those "soups" but I'll try not to eat too many of the noodles (just the veggies/protein). Guess I'll have my soup tomorrow night! (Already froze some in single serving containers for "emergencies").
A special thanks to everyone for their encouragement and support - I loved all the cheerleaders and bravos - very inspiring and motivating! You guys are the best!!
Time to go help dd study for history test tomorrow! Oh ya and I have to wake up at the crack of dawn and go line up to try and get dd into the "other" high school where all her friends are going (they changed the boundaries on us - altho to be quite honest I hope she doesn't get in as the school assigned to our district is way better!)
Later,
Froufie

I don't have to go to work anymore so I feel very lucky. No more dread on Sunday night. I do have to go for my pap smear tomorrow and that won't be fun. Hope you all have a great week.

Hi
Hi everyone! I've just started Core and would love to join your board! I think Core will be great since I like all the foods and it is such a treat from Atkins which I had done, but I'm a little concerned out the FF products. I just think they taste icky. But then I guess I could use those extra points we're given. Anyway, it's nice to meet you.
Spring, that Dance Dance Revolution sounds fun! I am going to Best Buy to see if it comes for XBox. My teenage boys will really laugh when they see Mom using their XBox.

Welcome! We've started a new support board - #7 I think. This is a great place for support and ideas, and everyone here is very nice (and funny!) I agree that most FF stuff is pretty icky, but if you cook with it, it kind of masks the flavor. I can't stand FF salad dressing, so I just count points for the regular.
I just got the GameCube version of the dance game last night, and had a lot of fun, although I wouldn't want anyone to see me doing it!
Glad to meet you, and post often.
Angela
