Default couple questions about Core Foods...

Hi everyone,

I was wondering about a few foods on the Core List...technicalities really.

Rolled oats-as far as the Core Plan goes, is one better than the other-old fashioned, or the "quick cook" ones? The reason I am asking is because I am a weight trainer, and most weight trainers choose the regular ones, and not the quick cook oats because of less processing-wasn't sure if there was a difference on the Core plan.

brown rice-now my dillema here is whole grain brown rice vs. "Minute" brown rice. Minute rice really isn't as healthful (more processed) as regular brown rice-but I see a lot of people here are using it on Core. Minute Rice-even brown is processed to some extent-much like "wheat bread" is not the same as "WHOLE wheat bread". It is a small difference-but there still is one. Does WW or the Core plan have anything to say about this one?

Isn't (and I could be wrong) Minute Rice just cooked and dehydrated and you re-hydrate it when you fix it ... thus making it only 5 minutes to cook (once the water boils)?

Don't know about the oats.

As to the oats, I think that the quick cooking ones are just cut finer so they'll cook faster, still 100% oats. I like the old fashioned myself. I just put 1/2 cup in a bowl with 1 cup of water and a little salt, then nuke it for 2 minutes (use a big enough bowl or it'll overflow ). Stir, add what you want, eat. Very fast and only the bowl to wash.

I dunno...I think I'll just stick with the dried "long cook" brown rice just to be sure...it is still less processed, which makes me feel better. ( I try to eat organically and the least processed foods possible when I can.) I am going to get a cannister of both kinds of oats and compare thickness and see if that is what is going on...

I did do some more research and it is just rice that has been cooked/steamed and dehyrated,.
