Default Just switched from Flex to CORE and I got a question...

I just switched to CORE today, but I noticed that they didn't mention a few items, and I wondered if you all could help :

1) Does bread go into the "one portion of whole wheat pasta, brown rice, or potato" category? Or is it always counted as Points?

2) What about sugar free jam, luck Smuckers Sugar Free?

3) I noticed you could have soymilk, but what about light soymilk? Is that still CORE?

Thanks for the help!!

bread is not core, use your weekly pts for it
jam is not on any list (that I see) but the sugar free ones are usually 0 pts anyway. Not sure about the soymilk either, my list just says milk, I don't even see soymilk so someone else will have to cover that one for you. Hope I helped a little and welcome to Core!

FYI the 'official word' I got at my last meeting is any thing that is not Core (even those that come out as zero points on the scale) you are supposed to count as 1 point for. Take this as you will...just relaying what was put out at my meeting.

Oh Kelly! I hate that!!! what did you think about that and why are they going to do that??? I don't know if I'll be able to count 0 pts as a pt, lol... goes against everything I've been doing the past year, but we'll see how this works out with everyone else. Thanks though for sharing the update! Since I do ww at home I never get any of the updates so thanks so much!

They said (just like "Core Cornbread", "Core Scones") if it isn't Core you need to count points for it. On FPs it is still zero for those type things (but then again if you eat a lot of them <my leader gave a 4-5 point rule --- 4-5 freebies add 1 point to your day> you needed to count for them).

Pages 321-322 of the WW Complete Food Companion list several "light" soymilk varieties as Core ... but they all seem to be the unflavored varieties.

It makes sense to count a point. We are supposed to be limiting this stuff and people are probably overdoing and boohooing about not losing. I see recipes here calling for a whole tub of cool whip (even if it is FF) which is a load of chemicals. I know there are 2 people in my meeting who were eating several slices of high fiber bread a day and not counting anything because it came out 0 points per slice. Those extra calories do add up and make a difference.

Thanks for all the great advice, everyone! This was all so helpful. I agree with Spryng, it would really be a bummer if I had to count 1 pt for the 0 pt/non-CORE foods. I like Kelly S's post about the 4-5 freebies!! I tried to keep my 0 pt items to about 2-3 a day when I did the Flex plan, and it seemed to work great. I switched to CORE just to give it a shot, try something new, and have a little more freedom (from counting points!!! I was starting to do that in my sleep )

As for the soymilk, my list says that 8th Continent Original is a CORE food. I compared the calories and fat of the 8th Continent Light Vanilla flavored soymilk (which is out of this world!) and it has way less calories, fat, and sugar, so you would think it could qualify as CORE, as well. What do you all think?
