Good morning. I am watching the grands today. We're going to lunch (healthy choices--seriously) then we're going to see "Zookeeper." Should be fun. I hardly ever buy any snacks at the movies. Got into that habit back in the 90's.

Nancy,

Ems, I haven't lost any weight in quite awhile. Hopefully, that's changing now as I'm motivated to get started back on program again. I have been on a long hiatus. Shouldn't have but was.

Good Morning Ladies

Slept in as I had a very full day at the Irish Summer Festival. Picked my friend Rita at 1 PM and we didn't leave leave until 7 PM. I wanted to get home before dark and miss the last 3 hrs of fun.

This morning I was on the phone with my DD for 1 1/2 hrs. She's coming early on Sunday morning and she'll bring all her maps and brochures of Maine and we'll decide on Sun or Monday where will being going and make reservations for motels along the route .

Going to continue cleaning the rest of my basement and getting my laundry done, and than I will be back on schedule for the things to do list.

PAM=Sorry about your high temps and humidity to go along with it. Hope that there will be some relief your guy in the south and mid west. I think the only thing that like this heat is the tomato plants I have more tomatoes on two plants, and I think after they turn red,I'll give some to my friend and the rest I will have to make tomato sauce out of most of them.

EMS-BIG BIG CONGRATS on achieving a birthday weight loss goal of 31 lbs that excellent. Enjoy your 80's party. I love the music from the 80's as my DD & I each other company and I went to concerts with her like Duran Duran & The Police but once she like Hard rock groups like Bon Jovi and Poison I stopped going with her. Today we both listen to 80's.50's & Country. I'm down to 165.5 at last Sat WI day, like to get down to the 150,so I have 15.5 pounds lift.

SANDRA-Glad that your pampering your self. That's not a bad thing,I think the more we do so the better we feel. I have no nails for a manicure as my nails break when doing housework. My sister told me to take gelatine tablets as the makes the hair & nails grow stronger, but so far it hasn't helped.

Have a great day got to start my laundry

Ems, and congratulations. I was in Copenhagen on your day of birth, watching the wedding on TV at the WHO European headquarters.

Pam, glad to hear the good news.

Nancy, What were your favorites? Monday is the 25th anniversary of my late husband's death. I have had two very powerful dreams about him this week.

Maryann, glad to hear you're having fun.

Sandra and

I've been monitoring my blood glucose levels because the MD said they were "borderline." Ten days after beginnning a lower carb diet, the numbers have fallen from 100 to 75-80. Think carbs are my problem? (Or at least one of them.)

weight..

When son was gone for 2 weeks in early july I ate super heathly and didn't have junk at the house. lost 4 lbs in 3 weeks. 152 to 148. Now he is here and i munch on pizza he & friends order & chips they pick up.
When he brings fast food back I beg like a dog for a fry or 2 LOL.
Even if I have better choices in the frig I tend to have one bite every time I pass the kitchen .

So..I am just going to hang in there another few weeks & not worry about it and when he leaves for college send any snacky stuff with him. Then I think I can stick to a plan.

Good Morning Ladies

Another day of cleaning and straighten up before my DD arrives. Couldn't get anything done when the humidity was so high. TG for a breather that I can get the job done now.

My movie buddy is going to take her grandson to the movies and than out for a free dinner at 99. The kids are free when the Red Sox the night before win. Want to see Harry Porter but my Grand children saw it already,so I guess I have to go to the movies but myself,as none of my friends like those kind of movies.

SANDRA-The Zoo Keeper was a good movie for my friend Mary is going to take her grandson to see it for the second time. I going to see Harry Potter even if I have to see it by myself. Have a great time.

RHONDA-Thanks, I like to keep myself busy and than go out and socialize with my friends. That's the only way I can become stronger, and not to whither like I saw so many people have done after a lose. Life goes on & you have to become strong.

NANCY-Wow that a great total of weight lose in weeks. I guess company will do that. My DD & DGC are coming up to visit I hope that I will watch myself of what I'm eating as its so easy for me to get back to the 170's again.

EMS-My favorites was Simon and Nick,my DD loved John. I like their songs & videos in the beginning when they started the band in 1982 but after the 1990's their songs we getting rough and that when I left. My DD than went on to Bon Jovi and Poison . She now likes the 50 and 30 Big Bands. Hope I can survive when my DD & I go on vacation eating out always gets my weight up.

Have a great day

Had a nice dinner with good family friends last night. They cooked authentic indian food ..yumm

MaryAnn..wish we lived closer..I need a movie buddy. Robin and I went to the dollar theater every week.

Last night a friend texted at 3am with a bad dream..I could not focus my eyes
to text for 15 minutes..Strange.. It has happened a few other times when I needed to take a call when first waking up and couldn't see the phone numbers.

MaryAnne..you are a good inspiration for me ..How did you find so many friends to go do things with. I have lots of married friends that are super busy with their families, but I need friends to do things with to get out of the house more. Our church has a singles group (thats where I met Robin) but the guys in that group usually make a pest of themselves.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, EMS!!!! Let us know all about your party. Sounds like it will be a blast.

Rhonda, I needed that kick. Thank you so much

Nancy, I agree with you. Maryann has a wonderful support group of folks who like to "do" things. Awesome!

Maryann, I liked "Zookeeper" and also would like to see "Harry". Wish I could go with you. I'd take Curtis but he'd be fussy about folks texting.

Day 2 eating healthy foods. Sugar free since June 2010.

No added sugar for over a year, Sandra I am proud of you, cousin!

I haven't had much of an appetite lately. It is so hot even the birds aren't eating much. Of course, my house is air-conditioned but I've been running around a lot, as usual. If it stays in the 100F area until next Tuesday, we'll set a record. But, it is forecast to be only 99F on Saturday.

Thank you all for your messages. It’s nice to know you are there. Nothing conclusive at the cardiologist’s. They have done more tests, results next week. Mark has also been referred to an allergist, dermatologist and ENT specialists so it is just a matter of waiting and I always find that the most tiring. Last night was hot and humid and the farms around us were crop cutting through the night. He coughed and spluttered all night, which could point to hay fever. I’d rather something along those lines that a more sinister diagnosis. Will let you know as soon as we know something.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY EMS AND MANY MANY MORE

NANCY-Thanks, I always had my choir /brunch friends[down to 3] and which one of the woman Mary and I are Movie buddies. The same group plays canasta. Alice & I met in the bereavement group at the senior center her sister passed away at the same time as Leo. We had 2 other woman in the BG but after a while we weren't compatible with them,so we broke up with them. Met my friend Rita at a October-fest at the senior center. She was alone at one table and I at another.I approached her as asked if I could join her. There was another woman that joined us,but like the other two, we had nothing in common with her. All of these woman are either widows or divorcees. My married friends seemed to shy away from me.So I needed new single friends.

SANDRA-I think I liked Harry Potter better,as I kept up with all the movies in the series. Our theater is a pub/cinema and we have individual tables with club seats and don't see anyone texting.

Our doctor came to see him and he said that he was 99% sure it was the sun, but he thought he heard something in Mark's chest that shouldn't be there and has referred him to cardiology for X-ray, ECG & ultrasound and then go on to the cardiologist who looked after him when he had his heart attack in 2009. His pulse and BP are fine and the doctor said not to worry, it was probably the sun. The nurse in me, knows this is very true and could even be a faulty stethascope That's happened before now BUT the wife side of me is very worried.
JOJO-Sorry to hear about your DH.Hope everything is fine by now.Hope he didn't have anything wrong with this heart,Heat plays a good part of lots of ailments when you out in the sun too long.

Have a great day have to get my vacuum cleaning done before I go out to lunch.

Rhonda, I got into a bad habit of eating sugar free desserts the last few months. That's a habit I'm nipping now.

We're in the midst of getting new internet service. The computer geek (that's what he calls himself) just left to get more equipment. Hopefully, this will be faster, less expensive service. That's how it's advertised. My son told us about this. It's a local company. Wish us luck!

Maryann, that's good advice you've given Nancy about joining the group.

Nancy, also there might be a Sunday School class or local "traveling" group. I know ladies from here take a lot of chartered trips together.

JoJo, I hope Mark gets good reports from his tests. How's your diet going?

Ems, guess you're out there celebrating your special day. Enjoy every second!!

This is Day 3. Life is good.

I've been monitoring my blood glucose, as I mentioned. I went out for Mexican food, ate only 12 chips, had salad with beans, grilled chicken, and vinegarette. Two hours later, my glucose levels were the highest they have been (120). That really interests me. What on earth was in that food that raises my blood sugar. I bet that the dressing had a lot of sugar in it!?

I am having a good day. Starting to think about activities to do this fall and how to meet new friends (thanks Maryann). My son will ge going back to college in a few weeks and I think if I work and stay busy with friends I will be okay.
I want to visit a few out of town friends & family so that will be something to keep me busy also.
I would love to learn to camp & fish & kayak at the beach. I just saw some really neat outdoor programs that the NC aquariums do. The problem there is that I don't have friends that like to do that sort of thing. That will be my goal.
To make some new friends that like outdoor things.
Hope everyone is staying cool.

Nancy, both REI and the Sierra Club organize outings, in case you hadn't thought of those possibilities. REI has a trip to the Grand Canyon, including a night walk in the full moon on my birthday, and I would have loved to have been there. But, we have another trip planned.

In this area, they run lots of classes for beginning camping, etc.

You are always welcome to visit Texas, and Sandra and I will take you out.

It's important to do the things you want to do; there will be friends there!
