My biggest struggle ..feel free to skim ..I am getting stuff off my chest...
My ADD makes me have a lot of trouble with focus and staying organized with my time . I stay busy but flutter from one task to another and can waste a lot of time . When my kids were little it seems less of a problem because
I was busy taking care of them and I had less blocks of time that needed
organizing. I was terrible at multitasking & getting things done at the same time I was caring for the boys, but I sure did have fun with them.
Now I can arrange my time in a lot of ways ... I spend a ton of time trying to come up with great schedules but never really follow any of them. I always envy people that have great routines that they have always done , I have no routines..even my shower is at a different time of the day each day..
I am going to try to begin to start with some simple routines , that I think will help me get organized with my time ..
7 am - coffee /plan day/water plants/shower
8-5 Projects /To Do List (work in the fall)
5pm -9 pm - cook dinner & exercise
Saturday- cleaning day
Sunday- grocery day
Just those simple routines would help ...
and getting my plan down in writing may help..

Good Morning Chicks!
Oh Nancy, you and I would be the perfect pair! I'm an organization freak in all things, and a planner to boot. I probably have some OCD but it was never diagnosed. Clutter makes me stressed. So periodically, I'll go into a drawer/cabinet/space to get something and end up cleaning it and organizing it! Good luck with your issue and I know that any extremes at either end of the spectrum are frustrating.
I'm off to see the Nephrologist today. I'm hoping to get some hopeful good news.

Good Morning Ladies
When taking the garbage out I noticed that the heat broke TG,now the A/C's will have rest, and I will be able to breath again.Had a bad night tossing and turning trying to find a comfortable position for my shoulder. The shoulder/neck pain is bad again since the beginning of June but now its getting worse. The pills the doctor gave me for pain is not working. Have a MRI scheduled for the 5th and than a follow up with the doctor on the 20th.Have a feeling its arthritis in my neck area that touches the nerve in the shoulder. We'll see, what the MRI is going to show.
Had a wonderful time with my DGC,my DD e-mailed me asking how the bunnies were.I have 5-6 running around my yard. Told her that I haven't seen them since the GC left.
SANDRA-Have a great weekend, especially with your archery. Its going to be a quite 4th for me,as every one is going to have their families visiting some them,so I will attempt to start my BBQ grill and have burgers & hot dogs on Sunday.
SLOAN-Glad you MIL is getting along, that's scary, I have done that myself,so now I color code the bottle tops and I do have a weekly pill holder that I use. Had a great time can't wait until they return in August.
Have to go,have a nice day

Mary Ann, I hope you get some relief. Have you tried a new pillow? I tried to switch from feathers (I'm allergic) to a down alternative and started getting horrible neck pain. Now I switched back to my feather pillow and I'm fine. Well....I have allergies but they bother me less than the neck!

Maryann..
Have they tried muscle relaxers for muscle spasms that can't really be felt
but cause pain. My brother dealt with neck pain and doctors for 6 months before
a smart doctor tried that.. 2-3 doses completely broke the spasm/pain cycle
and he was pain free. I have had a muscle relaxer work really well too a long time ago. The doctors have probably tried that..but I thought I would mention it..
I think Vickie is right that a pillow can make a big difference too.
Neck pain is the worst because it is hard to sleep or get comfortable.
My mini lop bunny had 3 babies last night. All are healthy and look good.

I know that we've had a discussion about massage, and most of you had never tried it. Nancy, try it.
I have degenerative disk disease on the right side, in my cervical vertebrae. In early May I could not even pick up a cup with a grasp and bring it to my mouth. I could not pour anything from a pitcher with my right hand. I was having trouble lifting weights in any position except bicep curls. Massages since then have essentially removed all of these impediments to my function. It cost $50-$60 a session and I was able to cut out all medication (anti-inflammatory drugs, etc.)
I had to laugh about what is not funny: you being disorganized. I used to be very organized, now I find it a challenge to make a big meal

Maryann, please let us know what you find out. I was having neck problems a couple of years ago and massages took care of the problem. Mine were due to archery, though, so I knew what was causing them.
Nancy and Vickie, you girls should get together. Well, I should get with you, too. I work hard at being organized but it doesn't always work. Right now I'm missing a jacket. Anyone seen a navy jacket that says "Sandra" on it?
I am scheduled for my epidural July 7. Curtis is scheduled for right knee replacement August 3. We're old. But we're happy and feisty. We "celebrated" after doctors' appointments today at Olive Garden. No, I didn' have any Principata Rosata. I had water with lemon along with soup, sala, and 2 bread sticks. Life is good.
I'm OP.

Nancy, I have ADD (have been diagnosed for about 13 years) and have found something that really helps me stay focused to finish projects, cleaning, etc. I listen to books on my IPod. In the morning I wander aimlessly from task to task until I turn on my book then I am able to get at it. Have you tried that? I used to study with the TV on, too. I could not focus if it was quiet, but the noise of the TV really helped. Let me know what you think.
I have been productive today! It feels so good to be able to get some housework done. Never thought I'd say that
DH just came in and said we need to leave to visit his mom. I'll check in later.

Vickie.. Can you imagine an OCD and ADD marriage.. Sometimes I think that is Robin and I. He helps me be more structured and I remind him that spontaneous can be fun and what "winging it " means..
Sloan..That is a great idea..I am trying to walk more also and could listen while i walk..Where do you get the books for your ipod..I am so behind with all this tech stuff. I do have an Ipod the kids gave me a year ago that I don't use.
Funny though.. because if I am driving and the roads get bad or traffic is heavy I have to turn the radio off to focus... I also need quiet to read but I think books on tape would help at other times...
Sandra.. I think I saw your jacket in my attic
I know you will be glad when you have this medical stuff behind you.. Let me know if I can help with info about Robins Knee replacement experience..
He is doing great and finally getting off all his pain meds..They still swell some but not too bad.
Rhonda..a massage ..hum..maybe..I did do a pedicure/manicure for the first time.. The spa my cousin took me to does a couples massage session where they teach you to massage each other.. If I do one alone should I get a male or female masseuse (is that the right term?)
Maryann..Have the bunnies returned??

Nancy, I hadn't thought of listening to a book while walking. That's a great idea. I don't have an Ipod, but I could use a cd player. I am going to check at our local library to see what books they have on cd's.

Nancy, the sex of the massage therapist (or masseuse) is probably irrelevant unless it matters to you. I've only been to women. In my opinion, it matters if the person is "registered" or "certified"...whatever your state may do. But, I've had great massages from people who are not. I wish I could package my therapist and send her up...she's among the best I've ever had.
Just make sure that the person understands your particular problem and has a commitment to trying to fix it. I NEVER would have guessed that I could get so much improvement with about only 6 treatments. She works on my neck and back almost exclusively since we're trying to fix this particular problem. I was actually nervous about her working directly on my neck, but it was the best thing to do. I would not personally seek a chiropractor to do work on my neck, although I've used them for lower back problems (which I no longer have).
In April I had to take a lot of Alleve. I've not taken anything but an Ibuprophen now and again, with some ice on my arm.

Nancy, I download books from Audible.com. If you check out the site, you'll see how they charge, etc. I like the way you can look at specific genres of literature, and after you have done a few searches, they suggest books you might like. I love using my iPod cause it does not skip when I move around, and it is small so I can put it in my pocket or bra I usually get my DS to help me when I have trouble figuring out how to sync my iPod . One thing I have noticed is that the books I listen to while working have to be light. If they are complicated, I sometimes have to go back and listen to some parts over again.
Sandra, I hope all goes well with you and Curtis' medical stuff. Hang in there!! If you end up enjoying listening to books while walking, you may want to get an iPod. They are not very difficult to use, and you don't have to have the cd's with you when you are out and about.
Rhonda, my dream is for DH to learn how to give a good massage. If, and I do mean if, he rubs my shoulders, I usually end up having him stop
Maryann, I agree with the idea about the pillow. I have the one that has the rolled edge that goes under your neck, and it has saved my life!
Vickie, I need some organization at my house. When can you come?
My MIL is not doing well at all. Her oxygen levels are very low, and she cannot tolerate having her oxygen mask off for even a second. I'm starting to wonder if she is going to improve.
I hope you all are having a great evening! TTFN

Good Morning Ladies
Had a good night sleep, saw something on the Dr Oz web site about neck pain. He said if you don't have a contour pillow, roll up a towel and than put it in the pillowcase on the lower part of the pillow. That will ease neck pain as the rolled towel will support the neck.
VICKIE-I guess I will need a new contour pillow.I have a sleep # bed and I had the bed on a high number to make it firm, will last night I adjusted the bed to a softer number and along with Dr Oz advice I slept last night. Thanks for you help
NANCY-Thanks,but When I had the neck/shoulder problem in April my friend gave me a muscle relaxer to use and it didn't work. The doctor told me that I would need 6 wks of physical theory and if that didn't work I would need a MRI[7/5]is my appointment. The pills that he gave me aren't working either. I need something stronger but that's up to the doctor. The bunnies returned,I haven't seen them but my next door neighbors kids told me so.The hiding in the back yard, near the woods.
SANDRA-Of course I let you know what I find out after the MRI is read. Its a possibility I have a bone chip from a deteriorating disc in the neck area, but the MRI will definitely let me know.
RHONDA-I went in April for physical therapy for 6 weeks and the pain was gone, and I felt so good, the whole my of May but than the pain start slowly again in the beginning of June. Don't understand why the pain came back so strong, and now that I'm living alone I have no one around to help me.
SLOAN-Sorry about your MIL,that's scary about her oxygen levels being low, hope & pray she improves, those masks are very uncomfortable. for the patient & the family seeing them. I'll have to buy a new one of those pillows.
Have to go,have a meeting to go to

Good Morning Chicks! Let me start out this morning by saying that I LOVE technology and intend to be the oldest, coolest, techno woman around. I have my ipod and my iphone and Jim and I fight over his ipad. We have a Mac and I have virtual folders and all kinds of organization. My calendar and all my photos are on my Mac and iphone. When I was in high school I wanted to be a computer programmer but never did it. That was back when the computers where the size of whole rooms.
That was just a long commercial for those of you who are being reluctant to jump on the bandwagon! Audio books are cool, cheap and take up hardly any space on an ipod. Ipods are pretty cheap now and last forever. Most of the Apple technology does stuff for you while you sit and stare at the screen. It's really easy to buy from the iTunes store too. Try it...it's fun! And, it's how I've been distracting myself from eating. It is my new hobby.
I had a good visit with the Nephrologist yesterday. My numbers are stable. I can never recover the lost kidney function so the plan is to save what I have. So far so good. She is taking me off of one of my BP pills! I'd lost 5 pounds since I had been there. She was happy. Now I just have to do a test so that they can analyze it to see why I keep forming stones. I was worried that I couldn't have a lithotripsy if I needed it but I can. So......gotta pick a day for my 24 hour test.
We've been invited to my Niece's for a small family BBQ. Turkey burgers and ww pasta salad made healthy by my Sister. I feel very happy and excited and am looking forward to it. It's warm here so I'll probably be swimming for the next couple of days. Life is definitely good.
Sloan, I'm worried about your MIL and I know you are too. All you can do is be there for your DH. I'll be praying for her recovery.
And....I'm going to be brave enough to schedule a massage as soon as I have a few extra dollars. The one I would go to will do an upper body one which is where I carry all of my tension. How exciting!
