?? i have a question

  • For those of you that have done WLS, (either type) could i ask what your daily caloric intake was after the surgery, and also what it was in the long run?
(please don't answer this thread negatively, for those going against WLS, it is not because i am contemplating it, just that it came up in one of my conversations with a friend, and i am curious)
  • Right now, my daily caloric intake is between 400-500. I am losing very slowly compared to some others I have known. I had my surgery on 12/8-so I'm not too far out. Those numbers seem low-but really, I'm usually stuffed.
  • I'm the long-term answer. I had stapling with a band in 1986, differently than they do it now. I probably get around 1500 per day.
  • for the bypass, it's generally 400-500 per day right afterwards and that's why it has to be mostly protein. our bodies can't survive without it.

and now, nearly 4 years later, it's probably around 1500. or so. maybe i should keep track??? hmmmm. now THERE'S a concept!!!!

as for the lapband and duodenal switch, i have no clue!!! LADIES????
  • I have the lapband.

I probably eat between 1200 and 1500 a day. Like Jif said, maybe I should keep track every now and again. But then I'd have to come to grips with the fact that ice cream isn't a food group and then what would I do? Lose weight probably!

  • 600-800/day, and sometimes 1000 or more on a good day.
  • I'm still a new post-op (lap-band) but I've been trying to track my calories and protein the last few days as I dip my toes off mushies and back into real food. I am as low as 1000 calories and no higher than 1500 and at least 50g of protein (I usually do at least one protein shake for 25g at breakfast).
  • Thankyou!

(most people say that WLS surgery is an easy way out! I really don't think that is the case! It is good to have people here that will answer honestly so others know what the real deal is!)
