  • I am sitting here waiting for a call from my son. I am going to meet him at the vet's office to be with him when he puts his dog of 7 years to sleep. Annie has been sick for a week now. She has had 4 vet visits in the last 4 days. Today they found an orange size cancerious lump in her vaginal canal. She can't live with it and they don't know if surgery would do anygood either. I helped raise this dog most of her life.
I am so full of nervouse engery all I want to do is eat eat eat. I only gave into the need to eat once today and am fighting hard to get myself undercontrol.
I know this is not weight related but it is food related if all I want to do is medicate myself with food. Thanks for listening
  • Thinking of you and your son and his dog. Hang in there!! That is hard.
  • I'm very sorry to hear that. That is very hard, pets are like part of the family. You and your son will be in my thoughts.
  • I'm sorry. You have a double burden going there; hurting for your son and hurting over the dog. It must be so hard to say good bye to someone who has been in your family for 7 years. Hang in there girl!
  • I'm so sorry that you're losing a family member It's never easy..especially since you've had her so long. I just had one of my rats pass at the end of last week and feel horrible so I know what you're going through

Be strong though For yourself, your son, and Annie!
  • I know how hard it is. My thoughts & prayers are with you!
  • My sympathies. That's really tough.
  • Thanks everyone, The deed is done Annie went to sleep in Chris's arms and it was very peaceful, just very sad. I learned why surgery was not a choice. To remove the tumor they would have had to remove some of Annie's urethra them she would not have been able to pee. If this would have been found when Annie first started getting sick the outcome would have been the same.
I am going to make the choice to exercise some of this nervous energey away in stead of eat.
  • I'm so sorry that you had to go through that. It is never easy to have to do that to our best friends.

Good for you for exercising instead of eating. I know how hard that can be.
  • Ah, I am sorry for the loss your family has suffered. I am new to the pet world and can only imagine what you and your son are going through. Dog's really truly are (hu)man's best friend.

Good for you in making wise choices and exercising verses overfeeding that emotional response. Way to go!
  • Joyce, I am truly sorry that you and your son had to go through that. I can not even imagine what I would feel like when that day comes for me. How great that you turned to excercise.
  • Sorry for your loss, Joyce.
  • Joyce, I'm so sorry to hear about the loss.
  • Sorry to hear about your son's dog, Joyce. It's not easy at all having a pet put down. Take comfort in knowing that she's not suffering.

    ~Dee
  • Awwwww, Joyce, I'm sorry. I just saw this thread. Good for you, working the nervous energy off. I know how easy it is to turn to old habits for comfort, and how hard it is to divert yourself toward the good sometimes. Thinking of you!
