Hi all! I’m greatly concerned for my sister and I’m hoping that you guys can give me any advice you may have. My sister got gastric bypass 3 months ago. She’s lost a great deal of weight and I’m really proud of her. But I’m a little scared by what’s happening. Most of the time after she eats she’ll throw it back up. The strange thing is that it’s not right after, it’s hours after, like 3-6 hours later. I can’t believe that this can be good for her. While she looks great, she always looks pale and sleeps more then she used to. She tells me this is normal and that it will eventually stop but it’s been 3 months, how much longer can she go on like this? I’m a little worried that she’s not telling her doctor the whole truth about the throwing up because I think maybe in her mind she thinks that’s the only reason she’s losing the weight.
Her behavior is also changing. I can’t say how exactly as its her personal life and I don’t want to splash it on the Internet for all to see, but I will say that while she hasn’t crossed a line, she’s getting close to it in regards to her personal safety. I can understand that this was such a huge change and that of course it’s opening up a whole new world but it’s like she’s becoming a teenager again.
So, should I be concerned about the throwing up? And any advice or words of wisdom you could give me about how to handle the behavior change.
