Off Topic .....Seasonale Birth Control

  • I was wondering if anyone has heard of or is on the birth control pilll Seasonale .. I don't think it has been approved in Canada yet ... but I was just curious if anyone has some first hand knowledge of it!
  • Yep. My best friend is on it and swears by it. I've heard that bleeding is heavier from some people, but she doesn't complain about it.
  • I asked my doctor about it and she said "all it is, is the birth control pill back to back except more expensive" and then she told me that if I wanted the same effect, just take 3 packs back to back. She said that you need to have your period once every 3 months, so not to just keep taking it, but 3 packs back to back would do it. I didn't do it because of having PCOS and I wanted to regulate my period.
  • Nelie: I had thought about it in that light as well. I have been doing so much reading on it .. we are trying to plan a vacation and the last thing I want to deal with is my period! Thanks for your info!!
  • Yes I do the same thing, take 3 pkgs back to back, so you are on 9 weeks of pills and off one week for a period. You can do it with most BC pills, doesn't just have to be this kind. Just ask your dr. There is no harm in not having a period every month.
  • Dawne - Are you on the pill now? If you are, many doctors wil advise you just to take your pill for the week that you are on vacation (if it is the week that you would usually be taking your sugar pill). Almost every bridal magazine I ever read usually has an article about extending your pills over the week of the wedding and the honeymoon.
  • I'm not on the pill right now. But I want to get on it. I was taking Depo .. and I wanted to make sure everything was functioning before I went back on BC. I have a wedding coming up in a year and vacations and stuff and being on depo was great, I never had to worry about .... then I saw this seasonale pill .. and well here I am heheh .. thanks for all the great info!!!!
