Protein Powder

  • What is the highest protein, most filling, best tasting protein powder you all have found????? Thanks in advance
  • Syntrax Nectar hands down for best tasting. It's about 100 calories per scoop, 0 fats, 0 carbs and 23g protein. I find it very filling when I blend it with ice.

I can't help you with the highest count of protein grams. Sorry
  • Most of the yummiest ones are from whey. For that reason they are the most like milkshakes. I use vegan ones, so can't chime in much although I like their taste and they are all lo cal/fat/net carb quality proteins. If you need more specifics let me know. Texture can be less than wonderful however.

  • Jay Robb Protein is extremely tasty and it comes in whey and egg proteins.
  • As this is not a high-protein diet, you don't necessarily want the protein powder with the highest protein. You really want the ones that are closest to an IP packet. Which is about 15 g per serving

With this in mind Lisa32989 which protein powder would you recommend?
  • Vega Protein Smoothie powder in Tropic Tango (vegan complete proteins 15 g, 90 cal, 0g fat, 3 net carbs). This one's my fave. Too much dairy upsets my tummy , though I love it.

Where do you buy this? Is it a non restricted shake? I'm looking for a few different non restricted ones.
  • I am wanting to start using my protein powder from the gym instead of the ip powder. I am afraid to ruin a good thing and am afraid it will throw me out of ketosis or make me gain weight. I am on my 10 th week now...any suggestions please.

Suggestion. Go to the first posts of this thread to find out what to look for in a protein powder & then start comparison shopping!

Nettie, I agree with Lisa. If you read up on the guidelines for choosing an IP alternative, you will be able to tell if your protein powder from the gym is IP compliant.

Ideal Protein doesn't have any magic ingredients - it just has the proper balance of carbs/protein/fat/calories for this plan to work. There are many of us who use other brands of protein powder and lose weight consistantly. It takes a bit of work, but it can be done.

Vega's made in Canada and available in all the grocery, pharmacy/diet areas as well as the health food stores. I know you can get it online as well if they don't have it in your area. You are more likely to see it if you live in the NorthWestern states as it is manufactured in British Columbia (our westernmost province). Here's the website - you have to watch which one you choose (there are other flavours) because they also have some meal replacement/post workout type powders which have more carbs for energy, etc. The bars are too high in carbs for IP purposes, but Tropic Tango Protein powder is unrestricted according to the IP guidelines. http://myvega.com/ They had a partial product recall in November 2013 but it was two flavours of their Sport Performance powders (a broad spectrum antibiotic was found in the mixtures - between 0.4 and 1.3 ppb in the shakes)- all taken care of now anyhow.
